Summary
It was strange to hold the knife that had once been pointed at my throat. Even more so when I saw the grim look on Rosander’s face.
“You used it to kill me.”
A knife is a knife is a knife, and it’s ridiculous to attach meaning to it, I thought, my stomach churning.
“At the time.”
Rosander didn’t seem to mind telling me he had tried to kill me. I wondered if that was the way it was with hunters. Is it common for hunters to be like that? Since he didn’t actually kill me, is it odd for me to be fixated on the intention to kill?
“I suppose now I might need you more.”
“Is that so?”
She pointed the gleaming tip of the blade at Rosander.
“Wow, I didn’t mean to use it now.”
Even at a distance almost touching his throat, Rosander didn’t flinch and just smiled.
Rosander Wayne is Queen Elaine and Princess Eizentine’s knight and hunter. He suffered the loss of his wife and close friend due to his involvement with Queen Elaine. He accepted the mermaid’s offer to allow him to return to his past and help her escape from the royal palace.
Lavinia is a mermaid with light blue hair and blue eyes. When she drinks human blood, she turns into a human. She makes a promise she cannot keep, to send Rosander back to his past in order to return to the sea.
