A Horror Game Steeped in Immorality - Volume 1 - Part 1
The full moon’s light coldly illuminated the 5th-floor terrace. Lycan, with his back against the terrace railing, knelt in despair.
“Leah. I know you were with father.”
His clear and clean cheeks were smeared with tears, and his sharply raised eyebrows lost their usual sensitivity, showing a sorrowful red glow.
His pitifully bloodshot eyes constantly shed thick tears. Lycan gasped heavily and suddenly hugged my waist.
“Leaving me… Why, why with father? Sob. Leah. Leah, look at me. Father… Father is not as good as you think. Only I… Sob… can make you happy.”
Lycan cried out in agony. His desperate outcry seemed to create the illusion that the entire mansion was mournfully wailing. I stroked Lycan’s black hair. After swallowing the sigh that was about to escape, I opened my mouth as calmly as possible.
“It’s a misunderstanding, Lycan. I didn’t sleep with father.”
I never thought I would utter such words. It was a dizzying feeling of betrayal. Suddenly, the description of the horror game I saw right before downloading it five years ago flashed through my mind. It boasted the highest point of freedom in a bar graph.
No matter how great the freedom, isn’t “love” within the family crossing the line? Why would a horror game offer such freedom!
Lycan looked up at me intently. As if recalling something he wished to forget, his face contorted miserably, and tears fell from his eyes.
“…I saw you last night, coming out of father’s bedroom in just your underwe@r.”
“Lycan, I know you could misunderstand. But I absolutely didn’t…”
“You wouldn’t even allow me a kiss. You said it yourself, it’s not allowed because we’re family. Then why with father!”
“I didn’t kiss father either!”
I was feeling unjustly accused and frustrated to the point of madness. My intrusion into Daymond’s bedroom last night in underwe@r was due to a surprise mission that involved obtaining an item. Moreover, it was a surprise mission to obtain a recorder that could let me hear the voice of the murderer! If I could listen to the voice, I would be able to uncover who the murderer was.
…So there I was, braving the embarrassment and sneaking into Daymond’s bedroom, even doing a handstand in my underwear. However, contrary to the mission’s requirement to endure for 30 seconds, I collapsed without lasting even a second. The words [Mission Failed!] flashed in red on the retinal display. I was furious and wanted to curse, but I refrained from waking up Daymond, who was sound asleep and left the room quietly. And then, of all things, Lycan was right outside the door.
“With your pretty mouth… don’t tell lies, Leah.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Father told me everything.”
A chill of foreboding swept down my neck.
“…What?”
Lycan articulated each word with anger as if chewing on them.
“‘Leah and I have become close, so stop your foolishness.’”
“…”
What nonsense had Daymond spouted? I was so taken aback that I didn’t even know what to say. Close? Yes… there’s no deeper relationship than that between a father and daughter… But the nuance in Lycan’s words suggested not a familial bond, but one closer to lovers.
“Leah… If you do not choose me, then I have no reason to live.”
I quickly collected my thoughts, which had been dumbfounded by shock. Lycan gazed at my face for a long time, as if etching it into his pupils. Sensing the situation that was about to unfold, I called out to Lycan desperately.
“Lycan, it’s all a misunderstanding. A misunderstanding, I tell you. I can explain everything!”
“My one and only Leah. We have always been together. From the warmth of our mother’s womb to now, we have never been apart. I am you, and you are me.”
“Yes, that’s right. We are one. So…”
“With you, I become complete. But now that you have left me, I am nothing but a defective product that must be discarded.”
Lycan hugged me tightly around the waist. He buried his face in my belly and took a deep breath, feeling and sensing me through all his senses.
Then, Lycan stood up and jumped off the terrace. There was a heavy thud, a sound of something bursting and crushing, like an explosion. I clenched my eyes shut.
[Before the truth could be revealed, a family member (Lycan Albert) has died.]

<The controversial masterpiece horror game aiming for GOTY ‘The Ugly Secrets of the Albert Family’ is on a 94% BIG SALE!!! Buy now.>
My eyes, which had been idly browsing the game site, regained interest. With the words GOTY (Game Of The Year) and BIG SALE used in the promotion, which gamer could resist clicking?
“The graphics and BGM are amazing.”
The game’s setting was a European palace-like grand mansion reminiscent of a fantasy movie. The effect of leaves gently swaying in the wind, the seamless blend of light and shadow, and even the texture of the mansion’s exterior were vividly depicted. The quality was so high that it felt more like watching a cinematic video than playing a game.
“Why does a horror game have such a high degree of freedom?”
The freedom bar was filled to the maximum in blue. Well-crafted RPGs often allowed the story to change 180 degrees based on the player’s decisions, and sometimes even allowed players to switch to being a merchant instead of leveling up, like NPCs. However, most horror games had a fixed storyline that never deviated from its course.
Horror games typically progress by entering a haunted house that looks dangerous and possibly inhabited by non-human entities. If the player decides not to enter, the game simply ends.
“The ratings are almost perfect…”
The game’s allure wasn’t just its stunning graphics and BGM or the intriguing high degree of freedom. Another element that increased the desire to purchase was the appearance of the NPCs.
The father, twin brother, and younger brother, who are all of different age groups. These three were the main NPCs driving the game’s story. Their unrealistically beautiful appearances captured my heart instantly. It would have been better if this game was a reverse harem game… Unfortunately, it was a horror game, and the player could never become lovers with these three, playing the role of the second daughter of the Albert ducal family.
