A Horror Game Steeped in Immorality - Volume 2 - Part 15
“Ah, so it’s possible because this is outside the mansion?”
I laughed bitterly at the absurdity. If there were such a good tip, it should have been shared sooner. Then I wouldn’t have just rummaged through the mansion for the past seven turns; I would have ventured outside too.
“…Never mind.”
After all, the murderer and everything else were now someone else’s problem.
I stretched my arms wide with a refreshing yawn. Lionel spent most of his time with me, but he occasionally went out to buy necessary supplies. Since we promised not to let any servants in, we divided the household chores between us. Mostly, Lionel took care of them, and I helped to some extent.
“Maybe I should just go for a walk.”
Listening to the sound of the river and walking around made my heart feel at ease. It felt like the only refuge from the murderer. To think Lionel prepared such a wonderful villa as a birthday gift for me. When Lionel returns, maybe I should give him a kiss…
However, I was worried about Lycan, whom I had left behind. I should have written him a letter or something. A sense of depression filled my empty heart. Thankfully, Lycan, likely confined somewhere by Daymond, didn’t know my situation. If he had known, he might have been shocked enough to take his own life.
Thud, my foot stumbled upon something. A blue light sparkled, catching my eye. Parting the green grass revealed a small, palm-sized rectangular object.
[Hey, you can do it too ‘Radar!’ acquired!]
[Item effect: Displays the murderer’s location. Range: 5m.]
My fingertips trembled for a moment. The You Can Do It Too Radar, a reward from the daily mission of finding a body, was lying on the ground.
“Huh….”
Even after rubbing my eyes, it was indeed the You can do it too Radar. To think it could be obtained this easily… Why did I go through all that hardship…! A mix of emptiness, anger, and the feeling as if someone was mocking me surged. An indescribable sense of humiliation clouded my vision. I picked up the radar to throw it away. I would have thrown it if not for the beeping alarm.
[The murderer’s aura is not normal. Please be careful not to be killed, Miss.]
The radar flashed a red light. And a message was hovering above the radar. The murderer is very close.
I stiffly lifted my head. Lionel was standing there, holding a bag full of food in one hand. He blinked slowly.
“Sister.”
“…Was it you?”
My voice didn’t come out as forcefully as I felt. Whispering in terror, I spoke. Lionel smiled as if it were drawn. The sight of his white, even teeth sent a shiver down my spine. As he stepped closer, I mustered all my strength to shout.
“Was it you?!”
“……”
His smile gradually faded. Lionel looked down at me with a hardened face. Dangerous. Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! The continuous alarm sound intensified the fear.
Tears flowed uncontrollably. It was you. It was you all along. You… Lionel, you…
What were all those confessions of love for? What about the kisses that gently fell every night… Lionel!
I cried out as I sobbed. As Lionel entered my range, I shouted as if in a fit,
“Sh*t! Don’t come any closer, you bast@rd!”
“…Sister.”
I gasped for breath as if I was about to lose it. Feeling the ground with my foot, I awkwardly grabbed a rock. Lionel’s brow furrowed.
“What are you planning to do with that?”
I threw the rock at the window behind me. Crash. After hitting the cracked part several times with my fist, the glass shattered like stars and flew in all directions. And before Lionel could get to me, I picked up a large shard of glass and pointed it at him.
“……”
He opened his eyes wide, making a disgustingly worried face. But… his expression seemed so genuine that… my heart ached.
“I’m not… sob. I won’t just let myself be taken.”
To search for the murderer, I needed to secure evidence. Even though the sharp edge of the glass was digging into my palm, I couldn’t loosen my grip.
“Sister, you’re bleeding. Let’s treat that first. Stabbing me can wait, it won’t be too late.”
Tears welled up in his eyes.
“Please… Leah.”
My lips trembled. This man was a murderer who had killed dozens and was about to kill me. My mind knew it, but my heart… kept reacting to him. Snap out of it. Snap out of it.
“…Don’t come any closer.”
“I wouldn’t mind dying by Sister’s hand.”
“F*ck Off.”
“But I don’t want to be killed with such a hurt hand. I’ll make a knife myself, with a handle that’s soft to the touch… Just until then, please…”
I couldn’t listen to him. I turned away from Lionel and ran crazily into the house. My legs gave way, and I fell several times with a loud thud. I heard Lionel following me from behind. On the desk, I saw a branch and a camera. Which one… should I take?
My reason, devoured by fear, couldn’t make a decision.
“Sister!”
Hearing his voice close by, I grabbed whatever I could and jumped out the window. I had taken the camera.
Lionel leaned out to look outside the window. I pressed the camera shutter to capture his face.
…And I just need to bring this to the mansion.
But… the photo I took wasn’t of a crime scene, was it? It was just a picture of him looking down.
Ah, right. My hand… If I show my bloodied hand and tell them, they’ll believe me. Daymond and Lycan both.
My confused mind couldn’t afford to find logical reasoning.
I ran towards the mansion as if I was out of my mind, not even realizing I was out of breath. When I reached the main building of the mansion, crossing its garden, I only then felt how the darkness had chillingly engulfed the land.
“Haah, hufff, keughh….”
