A Horror Game Steeped in Immorality - Volume 2 - Part 7
A soft cloth embroidered with elaborate decorations approached my face. I shook my head vigorously, rejecting the servant’s attempt.
“Leah.”
Daymond called me in a coaxing tone.
“What… what’s all this blood?”
“There was a ghastly incident today. The servants are currently cleaning up, so it might be difficult for the Young Lady, but…”
“Who asked you to speak?”
“Eek, I’m, I’m sorry.”
I… couldn’t come to terms with the situation and just blinked stupidly. The servant covered my eyes with the cloth. As darkness enveloped me, blocking out all light, a scream-like voice escaped me.
…Another murder happened. This morning.
Daymond had been with me in bed until noon, rolling around like an animal. Though I was unconscious for most of the time after sunrise, I felt him caressing my cheek and cleaning my body whenever I briefly regained consciousness. That means… Daymond isn’t the murderer.
* * *
The morning after Daymond and I were entangled, 11 servants were murdered.
Such a large number of people being murdered at once was unprecedented, except for when I first got trapped in this game. Moreover, it was the first time the murderer acted during the morning when the sunlight was strong, rather than at night.
Daymond moved me to a separate annex. He said he’d move me back to the main house as soon as the cleaning was done, but I’ve been living in the annex for over a week now.
Lionel found out my room had been moved and visited the annex every morning to keep me company, and instead of moving me back to the main house, Daymond himself made the precious effort. Daymond whispered his one-sided love to me, engraving deep kisses as if branding me. Even as his tongue painfully prodded my throat, I just stared blankly at the ceiling.
…He’s not the murderer?
Then what was with the smell of blood? My head was spinning.
I barely touched my dinner and sat down at my desk for the first time in a while. I needed to calmly organize the situation.
However, it wasn’t long before my concentration faltered, disrupted by the sudden appearance of a system notification.
[Surprise Mission: The Wailing Corpse. The soul of a maid brutally slaughtered by the murderer roams the mansion. Please resolve the maid’s grievances.]
[Mission Completion Condition: Find and reassemble the dismembered body of the maid, Selena, when the full moon hides behind the mansion’s bell tower.]
[Mission Completion Tip: 1. Selena’s body is in six parts: the torso, both arms, and both legs.
2. Selena’s body has been neglected for a long time.
3. The body can be found within the main house.]
“What kind of… bizarre mission is this?”
To search for dismembered body parts in the dead of night while everyone else sleeps. Not even a tiger’s grandfather could accomplish this. Just as I was about to choose ‘NO,’ the suddenly revealed ‘reward’ made me hesitate.
[Mission Reward: ‘Hey, You Can Do It Too Radar!’ Displays the murderer’s location. Range: 5m.]
My indifferent eyes widened. With this radar, I could evade the murderer’s gaze, follow them, and secure decisive evidence. Then…
“Game clear.”
It felt like a ray of light had shone on my situation, which had been devoid of hope and shrouded in darkness. I covered my mouth with both hands, listening to the rough beating of my heart. I could escape from the murderer…
Why this radar was named “Hey, You Can Do It Too Radar!” needed no explanation. It’s the “Hey, You Can Do(Clear) It Too Radar!” This was the last secret in Pandora’s box, a hidden item obtainable before the final boss battle.
[Miss, will you undertake the mission?]
[YES/NO]
Without a second thought, I chose ‘YES’.
[Mission duration is from midnight to 6 AM.]
[Please alleviate Selena’s suffering.]
[You’ve acquired “Thread and Needle” which could even sew steel!]
[Acquired the ‘Lantern’ found in the closet!]
[You might need this too. “Sturdy Rope” acquired!]

A black bird glided down. Against the moonlight, it spread its long wings wide and landed on the roof. The many birds already lined up turned their heads to survey their surroundings.
I watched the flock of crows, drawn by the smell of the corpse, with uneasy eyes, then clenched my fists.
“I can do this.”
The main house, which I had roamed in and out of as if blindfolded, felt strangely unfamiliar today. The surroundings were eerily silent. Despite the incident where 11 servants were murdered just a week ago, not a single guard was in sight.
With trembling hands, I pulled the door open.
“Ugh!”
The vile smell of blood shook my intestines and brain to a mess. I nearly gagged, wanting to vomit everything I had eaten.
Pitch-black darkness unfolded before my eyes. The air pressed heavily on my lungs, and the toxic scent of blood brought a headache, making it unbearable to stay even for a second. Just as I was about to turn back, Thud!! with a massive noise, the mansion shook violently and the door behind me closed. Right, it wouldn’t be a horror game if they just let you walk out easily.
“Ugh… They said they were cleaning the main house, but it’s still…”
[You’ve reached the mission’s location. When ready, please select to start the mission.]
[Mission Start / Hold]
There’s no use resisting; it would only waste my precious time. Covering my nose and mouth with my forearm, I chose to start the mission.
[For smooth mission progress, please use the ‘Lantern’.]
As I ignited the lantern, a circle of light sliced through the darkness. The light trembled violently, as if an earthquake had struck, unable to settle in one place. I gripped the wrist holding the lantern with my other hand, trying to steady it.
“Stay calm, stay calm.”
But the horrific scene that unfolded before my eyes sent shivers down my spine. Just as when I had glimpsed at Daymond covered in blood from the closet before, the floor was a sea of blood, and countless indiscernible—or rather, indescribably unwanted—red flesh pieces littered the ground.
