A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 24
Yeong-won murmured his name like a sigh.
“Seong Tae-geon……?”
As the impossibly handsome man suddenly appeared, a hush fell over the set.
The final puzzle piece had clicked into place. Seong Tae-geon was the investor for this film.
Seong Tae-geon, the CEO of Melliot.
Memories of everything she’d done to him flashed through Yeong-won’s mind like a whirlwind.
From crashing into his lips, demanding an apology, slapping him, to offering clumsy advice.
Still, she thought none of it mattered since it had been mostly his fault anyway…….
As if hearing Yeong-won’s muttering, his gaze, which had been scanning the crew, landed on her.
A leisurely smile spread across his lips, as if he’d just spotted his prey.
Yeong-won looked at him, her face frozen in shock, and whispered to herself.
“I’m screwed…….”
An eerie silence filled the air, so quiet that even a pin drop would echo loudly.
Yeong-won gulped nervously, wishing there was a hole she could crawl into and hide.
But there was no such escape.
Tae-geon’s gaze soon shifted away from her, but in that brief moment, sweat soaked her back.
That man is the investor of ‘Distress’? And I…… ran into him like that? And he’s…… not even at fault?
‘Should I go over and apologize? Maybe I should just kneel down first. No, he probably didn’t recognize me, better not make things worse.’
Panicking, Yeong-won subtly stepped aside and hid behind In-woo, who was standing nearby.
Luckily, thanks to In-woo being over 180 centimeters tall, Yeong-won was completely hidden.
However, there was one thing Yeong-won had overlooked. In-woo had always been somewhat dense. That’s why things had become even more strained with Chae-young.
“Yeong-won, what’s wrong? Something up?”
He turned toward her and asked. It wasn’t particularly loud, but given the eerie silence around them, everyone’s attention shifted to her.
Tae-geon’s gaze also landed on her again. Yeong-won swallowed nervously.
“N-no, it’s just, uh, the sun. It’s so hot today. I bet even pork belly could cook in this heat… Haha.”
……Oh no. I just made eye contact.
Her heart dropped at the sight of Tae-geon’s expressionless eyes fixed on her.
Who would’ve thought they’d meet like this? She needed time to think, but it was all too sudden.
Her gaze flitted around anxiously before she lowered her eyes.
Moments later, she heard footsteps—slow and steady, like the approach of the Grim Reaper.
As Yeong-won kept her head down, the spotless tip of a shoe appeared in her view.
“You’re Kim Yeong-won, right? I’ve heard a lot about you from Director Choi Bong. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Seong Tae-geon from Melliot Investments.”
In the end, Yeong-won had no choice but to look up at the voice coming from above her.
Tae-geon had approached and was extending his hand toward her.
Yeong-won glanced around nervously. In the hushed silence, she could feel the weight of everyone’s stares.
‘Does he seriously not recognize me……? I did have some messy makeup on earlier, but it wasn’t that bad…….’
Maybe he had face blindness or something like that.
Seeing his unshaken expression, a glimmer of hope flickered within her. As Yeong-won hesitated and stared, Director Choi Bong quickly jumped in.
“Ah, yes, Yeong-won, this is the gentleman who invested in our film ‘Distress’.”
The unspoken message, ‘treat him with utmost respect.’ After a moment’s hesitation, Yeong-won shook his hand.
“P-Pleased to meet you.”
Yeong-won mumbled her greeting in a barely audible voice and tried to quickly pull her hand away. However, Tae-geon’s grip only tightened.
“I’m very pleased to meet you too.”
Tae-geon emphasized the word ‘very‘ as he smiled with creased eyes. However, his eyes themselves held not even a trace of laughter/amusement.
It felt more like something out of a horror movie. He hadn’t failed to recognize her. No, this man was toying with her, like a cat cornering a mouse.
As Yeong-won froze in panic, unsure of what to do, Tae-geon finally let go.
He then greeted In-woo and exchanged pleasantries with the other actors.
Even after Tae-geon walked away, Yeong-won stood there, dazed, unable to collect herself.
“Since you must be hungry, why don’t we all head out for a meal?”
After greeting the main staff and actors, Tae-geon looked around and suggested.
“All of us?”
Director Choi asked, sounding a bit surprised. Including the extras, the crew numbered close to fifty.
While not an enormous group for a film set, it was still too large to casually gather for dinner at any one place.
“Yes, and the staff as well,”
Cheers erupted from the crew, but Yeong-won’s face grew even gloomier.
‘Oh…… what do I do?’
She had been traveling to the filming location on the outskirts of Seoul with the staff on the bus, and now they were all heading to dinner together.
It didn’t seem feasible for her to slip away unnoticed once they arrived at the restaurant.
‘Should I call a taxi?’
But since they were in such a remote location, calling a taxi wouldn’t guarantee one would arrive quickly—or even be able to find the place easily.
Plus, the sun was already setting, and dusk was quickly falling.
No matter how hard she tried to think of an escape, there was no way out.
Feeling trapped, Yeong-won looked over at Tae-geon with a helpless gaze.
Sensing her eyes on him, he smiled kindly in her direction, but Yeong-won knew better.
She could tell by the subtle twist at the corner of his lips that it wasn’t a genuine smile.
The sight of him enjoying this situation made her feel dizzy, as if her mind was spinning out of control.
