A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 26
Unable to withstand the pressure any longer, Yeong-won tried to say something, but Tae-geon let out a small laugh, bringing the situation to a close.
“Kim Yeong-won is the lead in ‘Distress’, after all.”
“……Sorry, what?”
“The lead needs to eat well and stay strong for the movie to do well, don’t you think?”
Tae-geon gave Yeong-won a mysterious smile. Still taken aback, Yeong-won stammered, “Th-that’s right.”
At the same time, the tense atmosphere began to lift.
Those who had been watching with curious eyes added their own comments like “Ah, I thought it was something else.” and broke into hearty laughter.
Kim Yeong-won, an unknown actress, and the CEO of the world-renowned investment firm, Melliot.
The two seemed to have no connection, and people quickly turned their attention back to the sizzling beef cooking on the grill.
However, Yeong-won’s heart, which had plummeted, refused to settle back into place.
Tae-geon’s intense gaze was still fixed on her.
“Thank you…… for your concern.”
Yeong-won managed to say, forced to express her gratitude as she shoved the meat into her mouth.
In response, he curled his lips into a smile and tapped the cut on his lip a couple of times.
It was a secret signal—one only they could understand.
‘I declare your guilt.’
It was as if the voice of a magistrate from a historical drama echoed in the air.
Yeong-won’s expression darkened even further.
Meanwhile, Director Choi and Ju-hyun were already drunk.
The two of them, seeing the pig’s head drawn on the sign of a sundae soup restaurant across the street, started bowing to it as if performing a ritual. Yeong-won had to sweat it out trying to stop them.
In the meantime, the sedan that had come to pick up Tae-geon arrived.
Normally, if someone is struggling like this, you’d expect some help, but Tae-geon just stood by, watching. Then he chimed in with a comment.
“Just leave them behind.”
Telling her to abandon people who were completely drunk. He had not a shred of compassion.
As she suspected, all that kindness and polite demeanor he had shown up until now had been fake.
“No matter how much they like me, sleeping on the street will give them facial paralysis.”
Yeong-won muttered as she strained to help them up.
Though it wasn’t much of a joke, Tae-geon let out a small chuckle.
Finally, the people who had come to pick them up arrived, and Yeong-won was free to leave.
When everything was sorted out and she checked the time, it was 11:15 p.m.
Since it was a busy area, it seemed like hailing a taxi would be tricky.
Only after everyone had gone did Yeong-won start to think about how she would get home.
It wasn’t midnight yet, so she considered taking the bus, but Tae-geon, as if waiting for this moment, swung open the door to his sedan.
“I’ll take you. Get in.”
“Huh?”
“Get in.”
Yeong-won was about to ask, “Why?” but instead, she just stared at the spacious interior of the sedan.
Why is this man acting like this? Could he have known in advance that she was the main character of ‘Distress’? He must have reviewed the script and the actors to make an investment, so he wouldn’t be unaware of it.
Or was he trying to get revenge for what she had done. The thought crossed her mind briefly.
‘It’s like he’s trying to scare me to death with a heart attack or something.’
But Yeong-won quickly dismissed that idea. There was no way someone would invest such a huge amount of money just for something like that.
“It’s fine. I’ll just take a taxi.”
She declined politely. Whatever the reason, this man was dangerous.
Especially in a situation like this where she couldn’t figure out his intentions. Being alone with him was something she needed to avoid at all costs.
But Tae-geon was persistent.
“Why would you take a taxi when I have a car? It’s late.”
Riding in the car seems way more dangerous, she thought.
Just as Yeong-won was about to firmly decline, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist, yanking her back with a strong grip.
“I-I’ll take you home, Yeong-won.”
Startled, Yeong-won turned around. In-woo, who had said he was going to the restroom, stood there, his chest heaving like a bull, glaring daggers at Tae-geon.
Yeong-won glanced between her wrist, now caught in In-woo’s grip, and his face.
None of this made any sense to her.
In-woo, showing no intention of explaining anything to Yeong-won, continued to fiercely stare at Tae-geon.
“Our Yeong-won is innocent and kind. She’s not like those jaded celebrities. Don’t think about treating her carelessly.”
Despite the sudden warning, Tae-geon merely twisted his lips into a lazy smirk.
“I think the one treating her carelessly is you, Jo In-woo.”
