A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 37
“Thank you for the meal.”
Yeong-won greeted Tae-geon after dinner.
She had felt completely drained all day, but perhaps it was the good food that made her steps feel lighter.
“By the way, is this far from Seoul?”
Yeong-won asked as she got into the car.
“No. It’s not far.”
Yeong-won nodded. She had told her grandmother she’d be home after having dinner, but she was sure her grandmother would worry if it got too late.
The lights came on, and the car started moving.
The shop was located halfway up the mountain, so visibility was almost zero. Yeong-won gripped her seatbelt tightly, feeling tense.
Noticing her anxiety, Tae-geon asked,
“What’s wrong?”
“I’m worried a wild animal might pop out.”
“Don’t worry, it won’t come out,”
Before Tae-geon could finish his sentence, something suddenly jumped out.
Screech!
With a harsh grinding noise, the car came to a stop.
“Wow, it really did come out.”
Startled, Yeong-won was trying to figure out what it was when Tae-geon muttered, almost amused.
“A mountain rabbit.”
“A mountain rabbit?”
The brown rabbit stood frozen in shock for a moment, then hopped away with a look that seemed to say, “What a mess,” as it quickly disappeared.
Leaning against the steering wheel, Tae-geon watched the rabbit fade into the distance before suddenly speaking.
“You look like Kim Yeong-won.”
“What are you talking about? I look like me?”
Yeong-won frowned.
“When you’re surprised, your eyes go wide, and you can’t say a word. But once everything’s settled, you’re running around like nothing ever happened.”
Tae-geon twisted the corner of his mouth.
Who was he to say that? Yeong-won was about to retort but held her tongue.
For some reason, her face flushed. Had her ears gone crazy? It felt like he was saying, “You’re cute, just like that mountain rabbit.”
Yeong-won instinctively turned her head towards the darkened window.
Tae-geon’s claim that it was close to Seoul turned out to be a complete lie. By the time they arrived at her house, it was quite late.
Yeong-won unbuckled her seatbelt and bowed her head in thanks.
“Then please be careful going in. Thank you for today.”
Tae-geon, who had been quietly watching her, narrowed his brows.
“Are you just going to leave?”
Then why just look, why isn’t she doing anything? When Yeong-won stared blankly at him, he tapped his lips.
Yeong-won exclaimed, “Ah!”
‘I completely forgot…….’
……To be precise, the thought of a grown man coming to get medicine applied seemed so absurd that her brain had just erased it.
Tae-geon took out the medicine from the console and handed it to Yeong-won.
‘I guess he really came to ask for some medicine.’
When the medicine bottle was placed in her hand, Yeong-won realized that Tae-geon was sincere.
She had indeed wondered if he had ulterior motives, maybe playing with her before making some strange request.
But no, he had really come just to get medicine applied.
‘The world is wide and full of all sorts of strange people.’
Yeong-won wiped her hands with a wet wipe and, while opening the medicine cap, asked:
“……Can I turn on the light?”
It was uncomfortable trying to move with just the streetlight’s glow.
Above all, it bothered Yeong-won that she had to face Tae-geon in the darkness.
It felt as though they were left alone in a secret space.
“No. Just apply it.”
Tae-geon rejected her without a second thought. He seemed bad, but then good, and when you really got to know him, he was bad again.
In short, the CEO has a bad personality.
‘I almost let my guard down just because he bought me eel rice.’
“Then, can you tilt your face this way…….”
Before Yeong-won could finish her sentence, Tae-geon suddenly leaned in, as if he had been waiting for the moment.
His elbow rested on the console box, and his upper body was half over the seat.
Without realizing it, Yeong-won instinctively pulled her body back. The scent of the man flooded her nostrils.
Even though they were close, it was too close.
It felt as though he was about to kiss her.
Frozen, with nowhere to move, Tae-geon casually asked.
“Are you not going to put it on?”
“You’re too close.”
Yeong-won, fumbling, seemed to have annoyed Tae-geon, as he raised an eyebrow.
“You said to tilt my face this way.”
She did say that…… but she didn’t expect him to come this close.
Swallowing the words she wanted to say, Yeong-won opened the ointment and applied it to his lips.
The sensation, one she could never get used to, transmitted through her fingertips.
In the narrow, dim space, the time spent so close to him dragged on, slow and heavy. His overly intense gaze seemed to trap Yeong-won.
“Please, close your eyes.”
Finally, unable to endure it any longer, Yeong-won pleaded in a desperate voice.
“Why?”
……Because… Well….
‘You’re staring at me as if you’re going to devour me.’
Indeed, Tae-geon was staring at her intently without blinking.
As if he might pounce the moment her hand left his lips.
She couldn’t exactly say that, though.
Yeong-won’s neck shrank, like a creature searching for a place to hide.
“You’re unexpectedly difficult.”
Tae-geon muttered, displeased, but still slowly closed his eyes.
Once she was out of his line of sight, breathing became a little easier. Though, it wasn’t exactly comfortable.
Now…….
‘Am I losing my mind? Why does this man look like he’s asking for a kiss?’
