A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 38
With his eyes gently closed, his face leaned in, and it seemed as if he was begging for a kiss.
Her gaze kept drifting to his face. His long eyelashes, his tall nose, and even the corners of his mouth gave off a slightly arrogant air. As though they reflected his confidence.
Yeong-won’s ears tingled faintly.
She couldn’t let it show, but the trembling in her fingers was already reaching him.
It felt like his hidden gaze was piercing deep into her.
All the way to places she hadn’t even known existed within her.
As soon as Yeong-won opened the rusted iron gate and entered, she checked her face.
‘Why is my face so red……?’
It was too embarrassing to even blame the streetlamp for it. Her face was completely flushed.
‘He’s unnecessarily good-looking. Just being the CEO is enough for him—why does he have to be so handsome too? He’s not even trying to be an actor.’
The image of his closed eyes lingered, torturing her.
After finally brushing off his appearance, she entered her house and stopped abruptly. As she tried to take off her shoes, a shadow slipped by.
“Who’s there?”
“Oh my! You scared me! Grandma! You startled me!”
Whether or not Yeong-won nearly fainted, her grandmother stuck her head out, looking around outside.
“Did someone just drop you off?”
“……Who would’ve dropped me off?”
Yeong-won quickly denied it.
“No, I saw the lights.”
“Looked like someone else’s car.”
Avoiding her grandmother’s gaze, Yeong-won quickly moved her steps. Her grandmother had sharp instincts, no doubt about it.
Even though Yeong-won had gotten off some distance away, her grandmother still somehow knew.
“Are you seeing someone?”
Her grandmother followed her, subtly asking.
“Dating? What! I don’t even have time for that!”
“Time or not, you should make time. You should date a little. Before I close my eyes, I want to see you living happily with your husband.”
Her grandmother’s desperate voice stirred a mix of frustration and emotion in Yeong-won.
As she was about to enter the bathroom, Yeong-won suddenly turned around and shouted at her grandmother.
“Always with that talk. This is exactly why I don’t settle down. What if you close your eyes before me?”
“I won’t close my eyes.”
Her grandmother’s playful words made Yeong-won laugh, and she hugged her grandmother tightly.
“Well, I’ll think about it. If you keep your eyes open all the time, Grandma.”
“Look at me. My eyes are bright, right? Don’t worry, I won’t close them. Now go make a boyfriend quickly.”
Her grandmother tried hard to lift her wrinkled eyelids. Yeong-won found her grandmother both cute and somewhat bittersweet.
But the only thing Yeong-won could offer her grandmother right now was a smile.

– Wow, so are we doing a crank-in party? That’s great!
“I’m sorry, but Yuna, could you possibly do my makeup and hair?”
– Of course, I’ll do it! But won’t I be a little short-handed?
“Short-handed?”
– Ugh, you’re so frustrating. Yu Chae-young is going to look super pretty, and you’re the lead, right?! You should care more. Didn’t you say there’s a dress code? Do you have a place in mind?
At Yuna’s rapid-fire questions, Yeong-won hesitated and replied, “Uh…….”
– You’re just going to borrow something random and go, aren’t you!
Yuna quickly caught on and pressed Yeong-won.
“No.”
Yeong-won’s ears tinged slightly red.
– Don’t do that. I’ll lend you some money, so you can get something nice and go.
“I’m fine. I got my appearance fee, so I have money. I’ll handle it.”
In reality, Yeong-won didn’t have enough to splurge.
The appearance fee was structured as a running guarantee, and the money she had received upfront had all gone toward her grandmother’s medical bills.
What little money remained, she had given to her aunt, who was taking care of her grandmother during the day in her absence.
Even so, there was no way she could borrow money from Yuna just for that ‘day’.
‘I’ll just match something decent and go.’
Yeong-won reassured Yuna with a cheerful voice before hanging up.
When she returned to the shooting set under the scorching sun, the heat of the sunlight felt even more intense.
Yeong-won was fanning herself with the script to cool off from the beads of sweat when In-woo approached.
“Yeong-won, drink this.”
“Thank you.”
She took the coffee In-woo handed her and took a sip.
“By the way, you know the dress code for the party tomorrow, right?”
“Yes. Are you all set, sunbae?”
“No. I still need to check out what to wear. If you have time tonight, would you like to come with me to look for your dress?”
‘My dress? Why would sunbae…….?’
Yeong-won hesitated, almost ready to decline, when—
“Yeong-won!”
Chae-young barged between them, folding her arms. The sudden approach made Yeong-won stagger.
But Chae-young, undeterred, flashed a bright smile and asked.
“What were you two talking about?”
“Just, talking about this and that.”
In-woo made up an excuse, but Chae-young pouted, sticking out her lower lip like she was sulking.
“What? You two were whispering again, without me.”
“It’s not like that. We were just talking about the party tomorrow, and what to do about the dress.”
At In-woo’s words, Chae-young’s eyes widened in surprise.
“You talked about the party without me? That’s so unfair. Yeong-won, do you already have a dress shop in mind?”
“Yeah.”
Yeong-won answered curtly, pulling her hand away.
“Or, do you want me to take you to mine? You’re the star of the show, so you should look your best. We’ll probably take a lot of pictures together too.”
In that moment, Yeong-won’s face stiffened. From the words “We’ll probably take a lot of pictures together.” it was clear what Chae-young wanted.
The supporting actress, Yu Chae-young, who outshines the lead, was clearly aiming for that headline.
