A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 40
A moment later, the personal shopper entered again, this time holding a new catalog. She seemed slightly nervous as she handed it to Tae-geon.
“These are creations by French designer Sarah Dong. There are fewer than five dresses available in the country. If none of these appeal to you, we can connect you with local dress boutiques.”
That was all she could offer him.
Tae-geon, sinking deeply into the red velvet sofa, casually flipped through the catalog.
After a while, one particular page caught his eye.
‘Not bad.’
Tae-geon tapped the page with his finger, mentally picturing Yeong-won wearing the dress.
A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
With a quick motion, the catalog was closed.
“I’ll take this one.”
Finally, Tae-geon gave his approval. The staff’s expressions brightened instantly.
They were free at last.
Ms. Cha’s voice was shaded with both regret and relief as she spoke to Tae-geon.
“I wish the person could have come to try it on in person.”
“She’d probably loathe it.”
“Pardon?”
Loathe?
For a moment, Ms. Cha wondered if she was misinterpreting the meaning of ‘loathe’ in this context. But no matter how she thought about it, the word seemed to fit.
“No way would any woman turn down a gift from someone like you, sir.”
“There are women who can’t turn it down, but would absolutely loathe it.”
Tae-geon chuckled lowly, as if amused by the thought.
It was the first time any emotion had softened his typically cold expression.
With his handsome face now illuminated by a hint of warmth, his beauty felt even more pronounced.
Ms. Cha stood there, stunned, staring at Tae-geon. But it was only for a moment.
“I’ll leave the address. Please have it delivered by 5 PM today.”
With his expression quickly returning to its usual coolness, Tae-geon spoke flatly.
Ms. Cha quickly snapped back to reality, her professional smile in place as she replied, “Yes, understood.”
There was no room to push her way in.
All she could do was wonder even more about the woman who had captured such a man.

“Get ready. I’m going to make you look stunning today.”
“Be gentle, please, ma’am.”
Yeong-won, her eyes wide with fear, clasped her hands in a polite gesture in response to Yuna’s overly serious tone.
“No! You need to be at least ten times prettier than Yu Chae-young today!”
Yuna’s determination was stronger than ever.
Ten times prettier than Yu Chae-young? Yeong-won couldn’t help but laugh.
Yuna immediately frowned.
“Why are you laughing? I’m serious.”
“Well, because…….”
Yeong-won was about to say, “She’ll probably be wrapped up in the finest things, how could I possibly compare?” but she quickly shook her head, wondering if it might disappoint Yuna.
Today, Yeong-won had come to Yuna’s apartment to attend the crank-in party. She had decided to take advantage of her makeup artist friend Yuna’s skills.
When Yeong-won arrived, Yuna was full of enthusiasm.
“Hey, hey, Yeong-won, did you hear about it? Why isn’t Yu Chae-young’s manager around?”
While starting her makeup, Yuna suddenly said loudly.
Now that she thought about it, the manager who always stayed close to Chae-young, taking care of her, had been missing for some time.
He had always been kind to Yeong-won as well, so she had been worried, wondering if something was wrong with his health.
“What happened? Is something wrong?”
As the puff approached, Yeong-won closed her eyes and asked. Yuna clicked her tongue.
“He got slapped ten times by Yu Chae-young. In one sitting.”
“Ugh!”
Yeong-won inhaled sharply.
“How angry must that kind, gentle person have been? He was throwing a fit, saying he’d sue for defamation and assault, and the agency president had to beg him to keep it quiet. And in the end, he quit on his own. He couldn’t even look at Yu Chae-young’s face anymore.”
So that’s why he suddenly quit, Yeong-won thought. He had always seemed so diligent, and it had felt strange when he disappeared out of the blue.
“Why did she hit him?”
“Who knows what goes on in her head. Apparently, she’s been in a bad mood lately. My friend, who used to work with her, couldn’t take the pressure and quit too. The next manager is already going to have a hard time.”
Chae-young was known for showing her true colors to those close to her, especially those she deemed weaker.
The image of her manager, who had been so kindly smiling while eating a sandwich, flashed through Yeong-won’s mind, and she couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
“Lately, since she’s such a rising star, the agency probably just gave her a warning and left it at that. The manager was the one who really got the short end of the stick.”
Yuna added, dabbing at Yeong-won’s face.
“You’d better be careful, too. Why are you getting caught up with her again? Ugh, it’s creepy. She’s such a nasty piece of work.”
Yeong-won let out a small sigh. Yeah, why did she have to get tangled up with Yu Chae-young again?
Still, Chae-young wouldn’t openly make things difficult for her.
Recently, Chae-young seemed very focused on her image, trying hard to establish herself as a top star.
Just the other day, Yeong-won had seen an article online about her being called an orphanage angel.
It was a picture of Chae-young visiting an orphanage and taking care of children.
‘The one who used to get annoyed just hearing kids’ voices…….’
Chae-young had always hated children. Yeong-won remembered how she had once shooed away a young child actor when they were working together.
Such a person visiting an orphanage, it was clear that something must have been quite urgent.
As Yeong-won chatted with Yuna, the makeup was soon reaching its final stages.
