A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 41
“Oh my, Yeong-won, you really are the prettiest. All that’s left is to find the perfect dress.”
“The dress I brought is pretty too.”
Yeong-won smiled softly at Yuna’s wistful comment.
By the time they had finished doing her hair, more time had passed than expected. Outside, the sun was already sinking behind the hills.
If she quickly changed and caught a taxi, she could still make it to the party just in time.
Yeong-won checked her reflection in a hand mirror.
The makeup wasn’t too heavy or too light, and it complemented her face perfectly.
If it weren’t for Chae-young, Yuna would have been working as a stylist at Dream Entertainment, meeting top actors and steadily climbing her career ladder.
Yuna had to leave Dream Entertainment because she couldn’t endure working under Chae-young’s constant pressure.
In fact, it was because of Chae-young that Yeong-won and Yuna became close.
After Chae-young stole a few roles from her, Yeong-won grew suspicious and reached out to Yuna, someone she had known from before, and learned the full story.
The only gift Yu Chae-young had ever given Yeong-won, however unwillingly, was Yuna.
“You look so beautiful. Thank you, Yuna.”
“Thank me? You should be thanking your own beauty!”
At Yuna’s playful remark, Yeong-won giggled. The two of them were tidying up the room when the intercom suddenly buzzed.
“Who could that be? We’re not expecting anyone.”
Yuna muttered as she answered the intercom, and a muscular man appeared on the screen.
– Hello! We’re from Daehho Department Store’s VVIP management team!
“Daehho Department Store? Management team?”
Yuna turned to look at Yeong-won, who was just as confused, shaking her head in confusion.
When the door opened, two well-built men in suits entered, each holding a box adorned with a red ribbon.
One of them glanced around and called out.
“Is Kim Yeong-won here?”
Yeong-won, looking confused, raised her hand and said, “That’s me?” At that, the man smiled brightly and handed her a delivery confirmation slip.
“This is a delivery from Mr. Seong Tae-geon. Could you please sign here?”
“Seong Tae-geon?”
Hearing a name she hadn’t expected to hear in this situation, Yeong-won was taken aback.
Seeing her blink in surprise, the man seemed equally flustered.
“Didn’t you receive any notice about this?”
“No…… I didn’t.”
The man awkwardly scratched his head, checking the documents once more as if to confirm something.
“You’re familiar with Mr. Seong Tae-geon, right?”
“Well, I do know him, but…….”
“Are you really Kim Yeong-won?”
“……Yes.”
At Yeong-won’s hesitant reply, the man’s face brightened again.
“Then please sign here.”
Beads of sweat had gathered on the man’s forehead, and seeing how hard he was working.
Yeong-won couldn’t delay any longer. She quickly signed and sent him on his way.
As soon as he left, Yuna, who had been watching from the side, immediately asked.
“What the heck is that?”
“I-I don’t know.”
“Hurry up and open it. I have a feeling there’s something really valuable in there.”
With Yuna urging her on, Yeong-won reluctantly untied the ribbon. She had planned to just check what it was and return it to Tae-geon.
The lid of the box opened, revealing its contents.
And the thought of proudly refusing, which she had moments ago, evaporated instantly. Yuna let out a sigh.
“OMG.”
Yeah. OMG.
She needed to take a closer look, but her body wouldn’t move.
Instead, Yuna, snapping out of her trance, lifted the dress from the box and spread it out.
The long gown scattered light in all directions as it shimmered.
The bodice was adorned with white feathers, and the dress was lavishly decorated with diamonds in places.
It was obvious, even at a glance, that this was an exceptionally valuable piece.
‘This man must be out of his mind.’
Yeong-won swallowed the words she couldn’t say aloud.
“It’s so freaking beautiful. Wow. This is no joke.”
“Y-yeah.”
“But why would Seong Tae-geon send you a dress like this?”
Yeong-won was just as curious. Why on earth had he sent her such an extravagant dress.
Still, she couldn’t give Yuna an honest answer. Suspicion was starting to fill Yuna’s eyes.
Flustered, Yeong-won blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
“J-just, you know, the rescue didn’t really make much of a buzz. Even though In-woo sunbae and Ju-hyun sunbae joined in……. The agency president probably had dresses tailored for all the actors to boost the party’s publicity. Oh, right! Now that I think about it, the director mentioned it. I must’ve forgotten.”
The words spilled out in a rush, desperate to make sense.
They were throwing a Crank-in Party because the project wasn’t gaining enough traction.
Tae-geon had mentioned that. He was determined to make it a success.
“……Really? They went so far as to give everyone fancy dresses like this?”
“Of course. How else would they know my address to send it here?”
Yeong-won’s nonchalant response finally dispelled the suspicion in Yuna’s eyes.
“True. Now that you mention it, I did hear they’re insanely wealthy. For people like them, this is probably pocket change.”
Although Yeong-won felt guilty for deceiving Yuna, there was no other option. She couldn’t afford to have Yuna, of all people, misunderstanding the situation.
Just then, her phone rang—it was Tae-geon. Hastily, Yeong-won stepped out to the balcony and answered the call.
