A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 42
“Hello?”
– Did you get it?
“What’s…… what’s all this about?”
Yeong-won’s voice was filled with bewilderment.
– The dress you’ll wear tonight.
“So why is the president sending me a dress?”
– You’re the main character tonight.
Yeong-won was on the verge of losing her composure, but Tae-geon remained as relaxed as ever.
“That might be true, but…… still, there’s no reason for the CEO to send me a dress.”
Yeong-won cut him off firmly. There was absolutely no reason she should be receiving such a luxurious dress from Tae-geon.
For a moment, there was silence on the other end of the line. Yeong-won began to regret speaking so bluntly, just as Tae-geon finally responded.
– What’s the purpose of our Crank-in Party?
His voice was surprisingly gentle.
But Yeong-won knew all too well that Tae-geon could be even more intimidating when he was being kind, so she answered carefully, tension creeping into her tone.
“To promote the movie…… right?”
Tae-geon responded with a gentle, encouraging tone, as if teaching a slow student.
– That’s right. So, how do we promote it?
“The actors…… need to make headlines…… by attracting attention from the reporters…… right?”
Yeong-won spoke hesitantly, lacking confidence. Tae-geon’s voice, laced with amusement, came back, praising her.
– Exactly. The prettier the female actress is, the more attention she’ll draw.
For some reason, his voice as he said this felt as sweet as honey sprinkled with sugar.
Yeong-won’s face flushed with heat.
She was about to protest that it was all too much when she suddenly felt eyes on her.
Looking up, she saw Yuna peeking through the balcony window, watching her intently.
‘If I argue here, Yuna will get the wrong idea.’
Cold sweat trickled down Yeong-won’s back.
“Okay, I’ll just borrow it for the night.”
She quickly changed her attitude. Tae-geon, sensing her situation, let out a low chuckle.
– Take care of that yourself. Now, how long will it take you to get dressed?
“What?”
– I’m asking how long it’ll take for you to come down from your apartment.
Yeong-won blinked in disbelief and quickly looked down.
Against the backdrop of the blazing red sunset, Tae-geon’s intimidating sedan was parked at the entrance of her building.
Yeong-won couldn’t believe her eyes.
“Wait, are you…… here?”
– Yeah.
The answer was so simple, it left her speechless, her mouth opening and closing silently.
She rolled her eyes in a panic to confirm it was really Tae-geon. And when their eyes met, she quickly pretended she hadn’t seen him.
A dry gulp slid down her throat.
Tae-geon was already the kind of man who could make anyone lose their senses, but today, he appeared in a way that defied words.
Dressed in a charcoal gray suit that accentuated his strong frame, with neatly styled pomade hair, his deep-set eyes, and sharp jawline made him look even more striking.
But what was really bothering Yeong-won wasn’t that.
‘Why is he staring at me like that?’
Tae-geon, who looked like a deity in his impeccable form, had been facing her and staring intently since earlier.
The spot where Yeong-won was sitting, already uncomfortable, now felt absolutely unbearable.
Unable to withstand the pressure, Yeong-won awkwardly fidgeted and finally asked.
“……Could I ask why you’re looking at me like that?”
“I picked it out, and I think I chose well. You look beautiful.”
……She instantly regretted asking.
“Thank you. Is that what I should say……?”
Yeong-won asked, laughing awkwardly, to which Tae-geon responded with a playful smile, “That’s up to you.”
Even then, Tae-geon’s gaze remained fixed on her.
“I like you even more than I had imagined.”
Yeong-won wanted to cover her ears as her face flushed with heat.
It was just a compliment about the dress, but perhaps it was his sweet voice that made it sound like, ‘I really like you.’
“You look incredibly handsome today, too. I can’t believe how stunning you are.”
Feeling embarrassed by the constant praise, Yeong-won exaggeratedly complimented him, wishing he would experience what it was like.
It wasn’t a lie.
She really was surprised when Tae-geon suddenly showed up, and he looked so handsome that it left her in awe.
“I know.”
Of course, this was a man who wouldn’t be flustered by compliments.
Tae-geon answered without a hint of embarrassment, his expression as steady as ever.
“Don’t you get a lot of offers for acting or modeling?”
“Who? Me?”
Tae-geon laughed as if he had just heard the most amusing story. It felt as if an implied ‘Who would dare ask me?’ lingered in the air.
Yeong-won thought she might have overstepped.
‘Right. Who would dare suggest becoming a celebrity to a man like this…….’
She felt that if she gave her business card to Tae-geon suggesting he become a celebrity, she might end up at the bottom of some sea with that card in her mouth.
As Yeong-won tried to turn her head away in embarrassment, Tae-geon suddenly narrowed his eyes.
“There, it’s tucked in.”
“What?”
Yeong-won followed his gaze, but she couldn’t find what he was pointing at.
“Where……?”
Just as she was lost in confusion, his hand suddenly reached out and tugged at the feather embellishment on her chest.
The feather, which had been tightly stuck inside, brushed against her skin as it was pulled free. Yeong-won’s eyes widened in shock.
In that fleeting moment, all her sensitive senses were awakened.
Yeong-won’s heart dropped, pounding heavily in her chest.
