A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 43
Yeong-won’s situation was of no concern to Tae-geon, and his hands continued to move.
“……I’ll do it.”
Yeong-won tried to refuse, but Tae-geon was firm.
“This dress looks beautiful only when the feathers are plentiful. I’ll do it like it was shown in the catalog.”
In the end, Yeong-won had no choice but to entrust her chest to Tae-geon’s hands.
Even though he wasn’t directly touching her body, her heart began to race.
While he was busy adjusting the feathers, his hand suddenly stopped. Yeong-won realized that Tae-geon’s gaze had fixed on one particular spot.
A small dot beneath her collarbone.
“This dot, it looks like I want to bite it.”
Suddenly, Chae-young’s words flashed through her mind. Tae-geon’s eyes relentlessly followed her.
Yeong-won’s breathing had already become erratic, as if it had slipped beyond her control.
Even after the feathers were all arranged, his hands and gaze showed no signs of leaving her.
Yeong-won shrank her shoulders. A place she had never once cared about was now burning.
As if it had been bitten by him.
The crank-in party for ‘Distress’ was held at a cocktail bar in Cheongdam.
The entrance to the party, filled with numerous famous actors and journalists, was bustling from early evening.
“Please look this way!”
“You two look great together!”
“Yu Chae-young, you look absolutely beautiful today!”
Standing side by side with In-woo, Chae-young wore a striking red long dress at the makeshift photo wall. Flashes went off everywhere.
“Can we take a nice photo of the two of you?”
When someone opened the conversation, Chae-young wrapped her arm around In-woo’s waist and looked toward him, sporting her signature bright smile.
In-woo, who seemed a bit flustered at first, soon composed himself and smiled at the reporters.
“Chae-young looks like the star of the show today. Why are you so beautiful?”
As Chae-young and In-woo stepped down from the photo wall, a journalist named Shin, whom they had known for a while, approached them.
Being a seasoned figure in this industry, Chae-young greeted him warmly, not pretending to be unfamiliar.
“Come on. If you say that, it makes Yeong-won look really pitiful.”
“Even so, Chae-young should be the main character, but everyone is in an uproar about someone else being the lead.”
Chae-young, despite already knowing, widened her eyes as if it were news to her. It was not an unpleasant thing to hear.
“Oh my. Really? I feel bad for Yeong-won. I hope she doesn’t hear that.”
“Well, what can you do if Chae-young is so good?”
“Thank you for saying that.”
Chae-young smiled brightly at Reporter Shin. Soon after, Reporter Shin looked around, searching for someone.
“By the way, I don’t see Kim Yeong-won anywhere.”
After a brief pause, Chae-young spoke with a regretful expression.
“Oh, Yeong-won said she’d be a bit late. She has some family issues and works part-time at a convenience store even on weekends. It seems to be taking her some time to find a dress. Even when I offered to lend her one, she refused. She has a bit of pride.”
“Oh? So Yeong-won is having a hard time.”
As curiosity filled Reporter Shin’s eyes, In-woo stepped in.
“Chae-young.”
At In-woo’s warning, Chae-young hurriedly covered her mouth, realizing her mistake.
“Oh my. That was a slip of the tongue. Reporter, you can’t publish this.”
“Ah, of course. It’s just a conversation among us, so where would I go to say it?”
Reporter Shin nodded with a smile that felt untrustworthy. The fact that the expected movie’s leading actress was struggling financially was quite a good story material.
Chae-young spoke with concern.
“If Yeong-won finds out I told you this, she’ll be really mad at me. She’s sensitive about things like this. Please forget what I said.”
“I told you not to worry.”
“Oh, and when Yeong-won comes later, please make sure to take a two-shot with me. These things are memories, after all.”
The reporter responded with a smile, saying, “Sure, sure.”
Once they distanced themselves from the reporters, In-woo turned serious and whispered to Chae-young.
“Chae-young, you need to be careful with your words. You shouldn’t talk about such things in the absence of the person involved.”
“I’m sorry. It just slipped out while I was talking.”
Chae-young drooped her eyebrows apologetically. In-woo let out a small sigh, seemingly unable to say anything more to her.
“This is Yeong-won’s first leading role. We should pay her some attention.”
“Of course.”
Chae-young nodded with a bright smile.
‘Why would I feel sorry? I deliberately blabbed to a loose-lipped reporter, why would I feel guilty?’
Of course, she thought the exact opposite internally.
Chae-young spoke every word today with a calculation in mind.
She wanted Yeong-won’s unfortunate family circumstances to be widely known and wished for photos of just the two of them to be seen by the entire nation.
‘The only skill she has is flirting with guys.’
How could someone like her be the star of such a glamorous party?
The thought of immortalizing a disheveled photo of Yeong-won made her feel refreshed just by imagining it.
People were enthusiastic about the glamorous lives of actors.
An actress struggling financially might be a topic of conversation for a while, but she could never become a top star.
‘If anything, if the focus is on her poverty, that’s as far as her image will go.’
There was nothing to feel sorry about.
The things that girl had done to her would not be enough to repay even with all of that.
Feeling good, Chae-young was about to step into the party hall with a lighter step when—
“Oh my. Oh my, my! No waaay!”
A woman walking towards Chae-young shouted upon seeing her.
Chae-young thought it might be because she looked so pretty, so she smiled at her, but the woman just brushed past her.
At the same time, a murmuring sound came from behind. Chae-young quickly turned around, her eyes widening.
