A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 46
The party continued in a relaxed atmosphere, accompanied by lively music.
Tae-geon left, saying he had something to discuss with the production company, while Yeong-won stayed with the staff she was usually close to.
“Wow. I knew Yeong-won was pretty, but today she’s really the best.”
“Right? I thought she was a fairy.”
“Once Yeong-won’s photo goes out, it’ll be no joke. I’m so curious about how people will react.”
At the staff’s compliments, Yeong-won smiled shyly. She was closer to the staff than to the actors.
Having gone through two complete film rewrites together and riding the bus as a team, they inevitably grew closer.
“Isn’t In-woo looking great today too?”
At the assistant director’s comment, a makeup staff member shook their index finger back and forth.
“I think that investor is the best. If he becomes an actor, he’d probably rake in money like a pro.”
“I’m with you on that. What about you, Yeong-won?”
Suddenly, all eyes focused on her, and Yeong-won, flustered, randomly chose someone.
“I choose Woo Ju-hyun sunbae.”
“Oh, come on. That’s boring.”
When Yeong-won picked a female senior instead of one of the guys, either Tae-geon or In-woo, everyone jeered.
Yeong-won let out a small laugh.
The actors and staff mingled, chatting and enjoying the lively party atmosphere. Yeong-won also felt a bit giddy as she chatted before heading to the bathroom.
Yeong-won faced the mirror under the dim light. The party was going relatively smoothly.
No, it seemed to be quite successful, just as Tae-geon had predicted.
‘He’s really an amazing man.’
This was the first time she encountered someone who could accomplish anything he set his mind to. To be honest, it even felt cool.
As Yeong-wash her hands, her eyes suddenly caught sight of the feather attached to her chest.
For no reason, her cheeks flushed. The sensation she felt when the feather brushed against her in the car resurfaced.
‘What am I thinking? He just helped me organize things.’
Shaking off thoughts of Tae-geon as if to dispel them, Yeong-won quickly left the bathroom.
Just as she was about to enter the hallway alone,
Thud.
Someone grabbed her arm and pulled her roughly.
Startled, Yeong-won was about to scream, but a sharp voice stopped her.
“Who is it? The person who made this dress for you?”
It was Yu Chae-young. Chae-young glared at Yeong-won with a pale face.
Yeong-won steadied her rapidly beating heart and shot her a fierce look.
“Why do you care about that?”
“Of course, I care. You, who pretended to be so aloof, suddenly show up in a dress that doesn’t match your status. Who wouldn’t be curious?”
“It’s not what you think, so let go.”
Yeong-won tried to shake off Chae-young’s grip, but she was holding on so tightly that it wouldn’t budge.
As Yeong-won remained firm, Chae-young grew even more anxious and brought up a topic that shouldn’t have been mentioned.
“You said you didn’t want to be someone who would embarrass your grandmother.”
“I’ve never done anything to be ashamed of. Don’t bring my grandmother into this.”
A hot fury surged within Yeong-won. It felt as if her blood was boiling.
How dare she bring up her grandmother when she didn’t even know what pain she had caused.
Chae-young, undeterred, twisted her lips and pressed on.
“Why not? Is it because I spilled the beans about you going to a hotel with those old, rich guys after receiving such and such offers?”
Yeong-won felt a lingering trauma from the incident, and Chae-young seemed to enjoy recounting it.
In that moment, Yeong-won imagined slapping Chae-young across the face in her mind.
No, her fingers were already twitching as if they wanted to move. How satisfying it would be, how refreshing.
However, Yeong-won clenched her eyes shut and swallowed her boiling anger.
Hitting Chae-young would only be playing into what this girl wanted.
Instead, Yeong-won decided to cut Chae-young down in a different way.
“Yu Chae-young.”
Suddenly, when Yeong-won quietly called her name, Chae-young narrowed her eyes. Yeong-won spoke in a calmer voice than before.
“That’s right. This dress was bought for me by the CEO.”
“What?”
Even though Chae-young had asked the question, her face crumpled when Yeong-won confirmed it.
“I didn’t have to beg for it like you, but the CEO bought it for me. Even when I said I didn’t want it, Seong Tae-geon insisted that I wear it.”
Chae-young clenched her fists tightly and mumbled.
“……You thieving b***h.”
Yeong-won let out a hollow laugh, incredulous. Chae-young was hardly in a position to say anything after stealing someone else’s role and laughing so gleefully.
Chae-young glared at Yeong-won and slowly nodded her head.
“……I momentarily forgot what kind of person Kim Yeong-won is. Pretending to be innocent and clueless, acting all naive, and climbing up to the top first—that’s Kim Yeong-won for you.”
She then poked Yeong-won in the chest, her fingertips digging in painfully.
Yeong-won swatted Chae-young’s hand away and smiled brightly.
“The view from the top is nice, and the air is good. No wonder everyone wants to climb up.”
“How dare you, filthy creature, not know shame.”
“I’m only trying to do what you do.”
Their gazes clashed in the air, the standoff poised to continue.
Then, a low voice cut through the tension.
“What do you mean, climbing up?”
The atmosphere froze, as if cold water had been splashed over them.
Both Yeong-won and Chae-young turned their heads sharply. At the end of the long staircase, Tae-geon was descending.
With a leisurely stride reminiscent of a predator, he fixed his gaze on Yeong-won, his eyes piercing and intent.
