A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 47
“Hello, CEO.”
Chae-young’s face immediately brightened, as if she had never been upset. On the other hand, Yeong-won’s expression became even more rigid.
‘How much of this has she been hearing?’
“What’s going on?”
Tae-geon, who had arrived in front of Yeong-won and Chae-young, carefully examined Yeong-won’s face before asking.
The one to quickly answer was Chae-young.
“No, there’s nothing going on. I was just asking because I thought Yeong-won’s dress was so beautiful. She told me the CEO bought it for her.”
She then smiled slyly at Yeong-won and added,
“She said she didn’t want it, but the CEO insisted and bought it for her…….”
It was obvious that Tae-geon was trying to confirm whether what Yeong-won had said was true or not. With an eyebrow raised, Tae-geon looked down at Yeong-won.
“Is that so?”
Yeong-won couldn’t bring herself to nod, so she merely chewed her lips. Seizing the opportunity, Chae-young quickly jumped in.
“Yes. Yeong-won said the CEO bought her the dress as if he’d give her his liver and intestines.”
Chae-young cleverly mixed in what Yeong-won had said.
“When did I—”
Yeong-won was about to refute, but she sealed her lips. It was clear that trying to explain here would only make her look bad.
If she denied it, she would seem to be lying to Chae-young, and if she agreed, it would look like she had deceived Tae-geon.
According to what Yuna had told her, Tae-geon hated hearing things like this from others.
She had boasted about receiving the dress from him, acting as if she was special, but had also claimed she didn’t like the dress in front of him. It was a situation that could easily make Tae-geon feel uncomfortable.
As Yeong-won pondered how to get out of this situation, Tae-geon suddenly reached out and swept Yeong-won’s hair aside.
“Is that what you said? That’s hurtful between us.”
The voice was surprisingly gentle, causing both Yeong-won and Chae-young to freeze.
‘Hurtful between us? What exactly is our relationship……?’
Chae-young, just as flustered as Yeong-won, asked with a trembling voice.
“Aren’t you upset that Yeong-won has been using your name everywhere?”
Tae-geon’s gaze shifted slowly to Chae-young, a look starkly different from the one he had just given Yeong-won.
“Why would I be upset? I’m the one who forced the dress she didn’t want on her.”
“F-forced the dress on her?”
“I gave her a gift I knew she hated because I wanted to. Is there a problem with that?”
“No…… no, there isn’t…….”
Chae-young answered hesitantly, and Tae-geon stared at her, then asked,
“Then why does it look like you’d prefer if there was a problem on my end?”
Realizing her slip-up, Chae-young smiled and said,
“I’m sorry. I’m also an actor in ‘Distress’, so maybe I was upset, feeling like I was being compared to Yeong-won. Still, we’ve met a few times now, and it’s a bit unfair that you’re only looking out for her.”
Chae-young tried to recover by flashing a playful smile and acting familiar, but Tae-geon’s expression remained unchanged.
Moreover,
“You’re also an actress in our movie.”
At Tae-geon’s casual remark, a heavy silence fell over the room.
Tae-geon was an investor in ‘Distress’. It didn’t make sense that such an involved investor, who even hosted parties like this, wouldn’t recognize an important character in the film.
Especially someone like Chae-young, a rising star. On top of that, Tae-geon had encountered Chae-young several times at drinking gatherings.
Chae-young asked in a trembling voice,
“D-Didn’t we meet several times, and you don’t even know my name?”
Only then did Tae-geon take a good look at her. He narrowed his brows slightly and muttered casually,
“What was your name again?”
Chae-young’s entire body flushed bright red in an instant. Yeong-won was just as flustered.
Yeong-won, barely audibly, spoke up to help,
“……Yu Chae-young.”
With 8 years in the entertainment industry, no one should have failed to recognize Chae-young.
Wherever she went, people revered her. She wasn’t top-tier yet, but she had reached a position on par with it.
But Tae-geon was different. Even after meeting her several times, he couldn’t remember her name.
A wave of humiliation swept over Chae-young.
“Ah, Yu Chae-young.”
Tae-geon repeated her name a couple of times, as if trying to recall it. Then, suddenly, he bent forward and quietly stared at her.
“Well, now that I know your name, Yu Chae-young, let me give you some advice.”
Under his suddenly cold gaze, Chae-young flinched and trembled.
Tae-geon took a step closer to her and whispered sweetly into her ear,
“Don’t go poking your fingers wherever you please. You might just end up getting them broken in two. I really, really hate it when people touch what I’ve invested in.”
His voice, though, didn’t sound like a deadly threat—rather, it almost sounded sweet.
So sweet, in fact, that Chae-young had to think for a while to process what he was saying.
It wasn’t until some time had passed that Chae-young finally understood what he meant.
‘No way…… is he mad because I pointed at him?’
She was so stunned that she almost wanted to argue, but Tae-geon’s cold gaze weighed down on her.
Chae-young bit her trembling lips, holding back.
Unable to face Tae-geon, Yeong-won shot a deathly glare at Chae-young before brushing past them and leaving the room.
