A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 5
“……An apology.”
“What?”
Seong Tae-geon’s eyebrows twitched in response. Yeong-won spoke again, this time with a firmer voice.
“A sincere apology. Apologize for taking my role.”
If she couldn’t get one from Yu Chae-young, she would at least get it from this man.
Seong Tae-geon let out a scoffing laugh.
“An apology? You want me to apologize? After what you did to my lips?”
“Yes. Because the pain I went through is far worse than the cut on your lips.”
Yeong-won spoke with all her sincerity. It truly had hurt. It hurt so much that she had considered giving up the dream she had longed for, a dream she had held onto for so long.
“If I refuse?”
“Then I’ll expose the cowardly things you and Yu Chae-young have done to the media.”
Even without a shred of evidence, Yeong-won spoke firmly.
Yu Chae-young had bragged about it herself, and since they were both in the same place at the same time on the same day, what more could be needed.
Yu Chae-young and Seong Tae-geon must have spent time together.
So Yeong-won guessed. She desperately wanted an apology from him, no matter what.
Seong Tae-geon asked, almost suspiciously.
“Are you blackmailing me right now?”
“Yes.”
Yeong-won answered briefly. Seong Tae-geon stared at her intently.
As their eyes met, Yeong-won’s heart pounded loudly.
Her entire body trembled, but thanks to her years of experience in the acting world, she managed to maintain an air of composure.
Minutes passed in that tense silence.
It wasn’t until Yeong-won felt like she could hardly breathe anymore that Seong Tae-geon finally spoke.
“……Okay. I’ll apologize. I’m sorry for taking your role.”
An unexpectedly straightforward apology came back. Yeong-won felt her strength drain away. It was an apology that was both difficult and not difficult at all.
She wondered if she had really confronted this man just for this. But she had to accept this.
Otherwise, she would feel like a dog with its tail between its legs, running away.
As the heated conversation came to an end, a calmness settled between them.
Tae-geon quietly transferred ice into the on-the-rocks glass.
Yeong-won watched him pour the whiskey and fell into contemplation.
‘It would be better to leave now.’
Having received the apology, her business here was done. Somehow, a sense of emptiness washed over her.
Yeong-won turned her body with a bittersweet expression. It was just when she was about to take a step.
“Since I apologized, you should too.”
“Excuse me?”
When Yeong-won turned back, Tae-geon straightened his waist.
“You made my lips like this. If you apologized, isn’t it only polite to return the favor with an apology?”
Yeong-won’s eyes trembled.
The large wound, prominently situated on Tae-geon’s lips, caught her attention.
How did she hit this man. Did she throw a punch? Or maybe a slap? She might have kicked him in anger.
Her rationality had been paralyzed by the rage caused by Yu Chae-young.
“……I’m sorry too. I guess I wasn’t in my right mind to resort to violence. I’m truly sorry.”
Even if she didn’t remember, it was right to apologize if she had done something wrong. Especially since she had touched the lips of that well-built man, she must have thrown a proper punch.
At Yeong-won’s sincere apology, his brow furrowed oddly.
“Are you saying you don’t remember what happened?”
“Well, I was drunk, so I don’t really remember…….”
Yeong-won hesitated. She clearly remembered going after Chae-young after drinking, but everything after that was a blur.
In an instant, a chill settled on his face. “You don’t remember?” he murmured to himself.
Then, he added in a monotone voice.
“If you’re going to apologize, you should do it properly.”
“What?”
“I don’t accept apologies that are just words.”
This time she understood him clearly, but she still couldn’t grasp the meaning.
Just as Yeong-won was about to ask him to explain himself, Tae-geon suddenly pulled her towards him with great force.
