A Night Soaked With You - Chapter 8
“Where did my shoe go……?”
Yeong-won’s bare foot was awkwardly waving on the red carpet. Even worse, she was barefoot on one foot while wearing a shoe on the other.
Yeong-won turned around in surprise. There stood Tae-geon, holding her high heel and grinning widely.
“Did I really walk around with just one shoe on?”
Thinking about how she had been limping along with one shoe on, after trying to act so clever, made her feel utterly embarrassed.
“Does it hurt to say something?”
Yeong-won glared at him, and he simply shrugged.
“I thought you were trying to imitate Cinderella.”
He spread his hand and compared the size of her shoe to his own. Her shoe easily disappeared into Tae-geon’s large hand.
“You have small feet.”
Yeong-won quickly walked over and snatched the shoe from his hand.
“It’s genetic. My grandma has small feet, my dad has small feet…… so I have small feet too.”
In her embarrassment, she rambled on about unnecessary things. Having particularly small feet, she often tripped as a child.
In middle school, her friends teased her, asking if she had bound feet. Her small feet were a complex for her.
As Yeong-won put on her shoes, Tae-geon suddenly asked.
“What’s your name?”
“……What do you want to know that for.”
Yeong-won replied sharply.
“You said you wanted me to take responsibility. I’m just trying to be responsible.”
Responsibility. At those words, Yeong-won froze, bent over as she was trying to put on her shoes.
She slowly straightened her body and looked up at Tae-geon.
“……There’s no need to take responsibility. I’m grateful you’re willing to forget.”
His face was so handsome that not a speck of dust would be tolerated.
Seong Tae-geon possessed a striking appearance that even Yeong-won, who was used to seeing celebrities, couldn’t help but admire.
However, having survived on the fringes since childhood, Yeong-won felt she understood what kind of person Tae-geon was.
He was just wrapped up in a gentle attitude, but beneath it lay a nature that was fierce, irritable, and exceedingly arrogant.
Though he might let things slide now because he was in a good mood, she had no idea what kind of revenge he might enact later.
There was no reason for her to reveal her name.
“Are you really not going to tell me?”
“No.”
Yeong-won nodded. Truly, it was a goodbye, she was ready to leave without any regrets, hoping he would let her go.
However, this time, Yeong-won couldn’t even take a step. Her wish to vanish like the wind had instantly turned to foam.
“Yeong-won! Yeong-won! Are you there?”
The booming voice from outside made Yeong-won gasp.
It was Yuna. It seemed she had come looking for her since she couldn’t see her.
As the commotion outside with the guards escalated quickly, Yeong-won felt a knot tightening in her stomach.
“I heard! I know our Yeong-won is in here! What are you trying to do taking her away? Give me back our Yeong-won! Kim Yeong-won!”
Without realizing it, Yeong-won glanced at Tae-geon.
“Kim Yeong-won……?”
He fixated his gaze on her, savoring each syllable of her name.
Soon, the corners of his mouth lifted in a smirk.
“……So your name is Kim Yeong-won?”
Yeong-won’s eyes widened in shock.
She hadn’t truly believed that Tae-geon would never learn her name.
He could easily find out while talking to Yu Chae-young or by seeing her face while flipping through channels.
However, she didn’t want to leave her name, Kim Yeong-won, etched in this man’s memory by her own words.
“No. my name is Kim Soon-gan. I named myself that because it means to pass as soon as possible.”
Yeong-won spoke shamelessly, hoping he would remember her as the girl who passed by in a flash.
But Yuna’s voice grew louder, and the more it rose, the more Tae-geon’s smile widened.
“Kim Yeong-won, huh? That’s a pretty name.”
Yeong-won’s complexion darkened at his wicked grin. It seemed she had really gotten tangled up with a nasty piece of work.
◇ ◆ ◇
A woman stood at the staircase of the rooftop bar.
With her wavy hair, towering high heels, and a form-fitting red dress that accentuated her voluptuous figure, she was glaring menacingly at something in the distance.
On the path leading to the top room, the very place where Yeong-won had just disappeared with Tae-geon.
“Chae-young, let’s go now.”
After watching Chae-young for thirty minutes, her friend, feeling increasingly restless, pleaded earnestly.
Chae-young, however, didn’t respond at all.
Unable to bear it any longer, her friend cautiously asked,
“Is it because of that girl from earlier? If so, just go upstairs and ignore it. Let’s see what they’re up to. The way Seong Tae-geon took her away, he must like her,”
“Hyerin, do you want to go first?”
Chae-young, who had been tightly pursing her lips until now, suddenly broke into a smile, cutting her friend off mid-sentence.
Though her lips curved upwards, her eyes held no trace of a smile.
Her friend, taken aback by Chae-young’s fierce glare, instinctively nodded.
“Uh, okay. I understand.”
With a hesitant reply, she quickly left the scene.
Chae-young couldn’t believe what she had just witnessed.
“He took Kim Yeong-won away……? Seong Tae-geon took Kim Yeong-won?”
Today, Chae-young never expected Kim Yeong-won to be here, let alone to be listening to the conversation she was having.
That was her mistake.
