A Taste to Spit Out - Chapter 8
“Jeong Hee-jae, were you eating your meal?”
This suffocating pressure.
He had been like a rough street dog, yet here he stood in just two years, clad in such a fine suit.
He faced me as a perfect man who seemed to have it all.
“Is our baby saying they want to eat something?”
I’m so relieved. Just a few days ago, he had said he had no appetite, and I was really worried.
Kang Yeol-Jin knelt before me. So easily, without a moment’s hesitation, right away. He buried his face in my belly and whispered gently.
“You have to tell me if you want to eat anything. I want to do anything for you and our baby.”
Especially our little one, who will be just as beautiful as you, an angel in appearance. Whatever they want to do, they should be able to do it. I’ll make sure of that.
If anyone points a finger at them and calls them a lowborn child, I’ll break every joint in that finger. If they’re looked down upon, I’ll teach them to cut off that tongue.
“That’s the discipline a parent should teach.”
Our baby might be so well-behaved, not picky at all, that perhaps they won’t even need discipline.
Kang Yeol-Jin smiled slowly.
Does he not realize that his behavior is killing my appetite, that he is starving his own child? I stared blankly.
“Ah….”
Then, Kang Yeol-Jin looked up at me, as if gazing at something divine, and kissed my knee.
“You’ve gotten prettier since you started carrying the baby.”
His persistent attempts to stay close, trying to reach me in any way, were incredibly irritating. I slowly tried to pull my legs back.
“Why? Am I still scared?”
He had whispered that he loved me every day, but now it all felt like a dream. Something in my belly stirred at the sound of his sweet voice.
The pheromones rising from him were as overwhelming as the heat of the Mediterranean, close to violent. They stirred up waves like a storm, crashing over me like a small island.
The pheromones, tightly coiled around him, reacting to me, were sickening and revolting.
“Tell me everything will be alright.”
I parted my lips slightly.
“…What?”
“What did you say, honey?”
“It’s disgusting, you bastard.”
Disgusting, you’re so utterly disgusting. In my words, Kang Yeol-Jin’s face hardened like a stone.
“You’re the one who tried to choke me to death. You broke my finger, ruined my drawings, caused all kinds of trouble, you bastard.”
And, and you…
The name “Seon-woo” lingered in my mouth, a name I couldn’t bring myself to utter. The name you severed from me, the one you took away completely.
“I was immature back then.”
Kang Yeol-Jin’s words came out, tinged with a deep emptiness. For such a trivial reason!
“You sickening bastard…!”
“I wanted you. I was going crazy wanting you. But it felt like I could never grasp you, so I just wished you would disappear.”
Kang Yeol-Jin smiled, pulling the corners of his lips up. Along with it, the wound on my cheek throbbed sharply.
“I know I disgust you.”
“But, my dear. ”
“My dear, can’t we at least share the bed? The nights without you are so lonely. I haven’t slept a wink since returning home. “
“Even when I drink, it’s the same. All I can think about is you.”
Born with nothing in a back alley, the only thing he held onto was his pride.
In high school, someone insulted him for being a kid without a mother, and he broke a window, slicing his neck in the process.
He was the kind of person who would turn anyone to mush if they dared to step on his shadow.
He was the one who held onto his position with a single fist.
Yet now, that rough, barbaric man carefully buries his face in my neck, pleading for me to understand his loneliness, kneeling before me so submissively.
Kang Yeol-Jin, the one and only Kang Yeol-Jin…
He had wanted nothing more than to shove me into his mouth. I couldn’t understand it. He would have chewed me down to the bone and swallowed me whole, and still not been satisfied.
That was Kang Yeol-Jin, wasn’t it?
“Even if I regain my memories, there’s no way for us to end up like that.”
