After I Died, My Husband Went Mad - Chapter 78
Outside the Sixth Road, there was another person who was just as troubled as Watts.
“Haah…”
It was the ever-so-positive Eli, looking down at knights scattered about, his face uncharacteristically cloudy.
“This is driving me crazy.”
Eli sat down on the spot and pounded the ground. Thump, thump. After stirring up the soil, he brushed off his hands. His situation was as much of a mess as his disheveled palms.
“How is it that over a dozen knights can’t protect a single duke?”
Eli recalled his last memory of his master. He had undoubtedly finished all preparations and confidently set foot on the Sixth Road with his retinue. And… the sun, which had been high in the sky, vanished in an instant, plunging everything into darkness.
What happened next…
Eli’s sunken eyes glanced at his still-stunned companions and shook his head. Not only did they waste time in a trap, but they also lost the noble they were supposed to guard. And he still didn’t know exactly how much time had passed in there.
He was at a loss for words. But more critically, he was now stuck with Dehart’s things.
“What do we do…”
Eli furrowed his brow, clutching his backpack.
It contained the medication for the wound on his side that had been inflicted by that servant, Denisa, along with the neuroleptics and sleeping pills that Dehart took every hour. The neuroleptics, in particular, weren’t something that could be easily found in the market.
He carries it around everyday in case of emergencies…
If Dehart couldn’t get his medication, the man would undoubtedly suffer.
Staring at the Sixth Road with a serious expression, Eli considered whether to re-enter that dangerous path. Ryan’s words echoed in his mind—an ominous warning.
[If something happens that you can’t handle on your end, contact me immediately. Don’t take matters into your own hands. Do you understand?]
Eli hesitated for a moment but soon rose from his spot. Yes, notifying Ryan of the current situation would be the first step. Thinking of his reliable cousin, he kicked his comrades one by one to wake them up. Moans of pain echoed like a chorus through the mountains.

After finishing her dinner, Sebelia’s eyes widened as she entered her assigned room.
“Wow….”
It wasn’t particularly fancy or luxurious, but the room had a warm and cozy atmosphere, much like the living room.
The large windows facing the door offered a sweeping view of the beautifully landscaped garden and forest beyond. She walked over, pulled back the curtains partially covering them, and pushed them open.
“It’s nice.”
A fresh breeze wafted in and caressed her cheeks. Her warm cheeks flushed with excitement before being softly cooled by the gentle wind.
Sebelia’s gaze drifted off into the distance, then back to her surroundings, and she became acutely aware of where she was once again.
Under the slowly dimming sky, a serene mansion and a peaceful landscape. In the midst of a future she could never have dreamed of at Hillend Hall. This was where she was.
“It feels like a dream.”
Sebelia sighed and threw herself on the bed, a deep sense of relief and fullness seeping into her entire being.
Now that the anxiety-inducing question of her having Reese’s disease had been answered, her heart was filled with joy and relief. The hope that had been doggedly surviving deep inside her rose to the surface.
“Now, I can actually plan to live a normal life.”
She didn’t have to cling desperately to a life that would end in six months, nervously pushing herself to experience it all before her time ran out. She could hold on to what she had without fearing that she would soon have to let it all go. She could be as greedy as she wanted with what life had to offer. And Denisa…
“Denisa doesn’t have to sacrifice for me anymore.”
Sebelia hugged the pillow tightly, burying her head in it. This was a secret she couldn’t bring herself to tell Denisa—the thought that she had ruined Denisa’s life.
In the past, when I was young, I resented her for no reason.
When no one reached out to her, Denisa was the first person to show her warmth. Sebelia was happy, so happy. Until she lost that warmth.
[To be spoiled so badly by a mere maid—I can no longer tolerate it.]
A child who is loved takes love for granted without realizing it. So, under the illusion that she was a child worthy of love, she foolishly believed that her father would also love her back.
But that was foolish and naive.
[The Electra Monastery is the perfect place to educate children like you, and I’ll take you back when you’ve had time to reflect and repent of your sins.]
And so, she was abandoned. Cast aside and left alone. She wished that she had known nothing of love at all. However, she had already tasted Denisa’s unconditional affection and remembered her warmth.
Days passed silently with tears shed every night… Then she came.
[Young lady…!]
It was a moment of ecstasy, like a ray of light breaking through a dark cloud. But as Sebelia looked at the dusty hem of Denisa’s skirt, she felt both guilty and miserable.
Why does she love a person like me so much?
She was nothing but a poor, unhappy, and worthless child. Why did this person come to her? Why did she protect and care about her?
[Sorry…]
At that moment, Sebelia apologized without realizing it, and Denisa hugged her, her shoulders shaking.
Ever since, she’d been carrying a deep guilt toward Denisa, but she’d never been able to talk about it because she knew it would hurt her.
But no longer.
Sebelia had abandoned her past. She was no longer the burdensome, illegitimate Wheddon child nor was she the traitorous Duchess of Inverness.
Now that she was free, a life without constraints lay before her. She tightened her grip on the pillow she held. The soft fluff filled her embrace, and a sense of relief filled her heart, as if she was holding Denisa.
“Now it’s my turn to make Denisa happy.”
A newfound strength surged within her, a feeling she had never experienced before.
