After I Died, My Husband Went Mad - Chapter 79
Knock, knock.
“Miss Bella, are you awake?”
The knock on the door roused Sebelia from her slumber, and she realized it was already morning. She must have fallen asleep just after eating dinner, feeling full and satisfied.
After dressing, she opened the door and was surprised to see Watts’s face, which had grown quite haggard overnight. Watts looked at her quizzically as she saw Sebelia looking up at him with her hand clasped over her mouth.
“Why are you doing that?”
“Oh, no, it’s just… You looked very tired. Did you overexert yourself trying to find out about my illness?”
Sebelia stared intently at his eyes, then tapped her own eyes with her hand. Watts finally understood her meaning and sighed.
“Ah… it’s nothing. I had some business last night.”
With that, Watts seemed to hesitate for a moment, then abruptly asked Sebelia.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to ask about the man you came with.”
Sebelia’s blue eyes froze, but only for a moment.
Regaining her composure, she asked cautiously, “…What happened to him?”
Watts paused, wondering how much he should reveal. However, with the patient stubbornly staying silent and refusing to cooperate, it left him with no choice.
“First of all, assuming that you two know each other to some extent, may I ask if you are aware of any underlying health issues with the man?”
“No…This is my first time hearing of anything like that.”
She had never heard or seen anything like that. Sometimes Dehart had trouble sleeping, but when she comforted him by patting his chest or stroking his head, he quickly fell back to sleep. Other than that, she had no knowledge of anything else.
“I had no idea. Is it quite serious?”
“We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s not looking good. It seems like he has been suffering for quite a while. I need to know exactly what’s going on to prescribe the right treatment. If we randomly administer medications and side effects occur…”
It would agitate Claude to no end. Watts sighed heavily, thinking of a future he never wanted to face. Suddenly, he locked eyes with Sebelia, his gaze almost pleading.
“If you don’t mind, would you allow him to stay here a while longer? I’ll do whatever I can to keep the two of you from meeting, if that’s possible.”
Watts was being sincere. Sebelia believed he could do that, too. But… was it really necessary? Sebelia struggled with conflicting emotions but eventually made a decision.
“I’m fine with it.”
It wasn’t just for Dehart’s sake, but for hers too. Just as Dehart’s late regrets weren’t hers to bear, so was the resentment he had placed in her heart.
If she wanted to kill Sebelia Inverness and live as Bella, she had to act accordingly. Dehart also had to face the fact, and Sebelia knew this truth.
If I deny the past and keep pushing him away, he’ll eventually have no choice but to understand.
He would never be able to defy that simple, absolute truth: dead people don’t come back to life.

As the conversation concluded, Claude, Watts, and Sebelia had a simple breakfast. Then, as planned, Watts began to inquire about Sebelia’s medical history.
“Have any of your parents or relatives suffered from a similar condition?”
Sebelia blinked as she took the pill packet Watts offered. She pursed her lips and shook her head.
“My father is healthy and…. I’m probably the only one of my siblings who’s sick. I’m not sure about my other relatives, as we’re not very close.”
Watts frowned slightly at the omission of her mother from her answer. Perhaps she didn’t know much about her mother. Having seen so many patients, it wasn’t hard for Watts to guess her family history,
He clicked his tongue.
Pity. It seems it might be inherited from her mother’s side. If only we had known earlier, we could have treated it right at the onset of her showing symptoms.
Well, that didn’t matter since she was here now. Watts made sure Sebelia took her medication and headed back down to the lab.
Now that he had two patients, he had double the workload.
