Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 15
The mock training is designed to prepare for various real-life situations.
Among them, today’s scenario involved clearing out golem-type mutant monsters that appeared in a rock cave-like map.
Even though it’s a mock exercise, it’s quite challenging for Espers and Guides with limited experience. So, just as how it was in real combat, they needed to cooperate closely.
Of course, when Claude is on the team… that’s a different story.
Even a challenging mock training would be child’s play for him.
Many Espers and Guides expected Claude’s participation in the mock training because they thought he might be joining to ‘teach a lesson to junior Espers’.
Especially with the commotion that happened in the Guide Hall recently, they assumed he was now taking on a mentor role to improve his image.
But that wasn’t the case at all.
Claude operated solo like a bulldozer.
Q: We’re doing a group project, but our professor is one of our group members. However, they’re doing all the research, creating the presentation, and even giving it alone. What should we do?
A1: ????
A2: Well… cheer them on?
A3: Opportunities like that are rare. Just enjoy the ride.
Teamwork or support among team members was non-existent. Claude, with his long strides, led the charge and swiftly cleared out the mutants.
I, along with the other Guides, and even the show-off Espers, were left flabbergasted.
At first, some other Espers attempted to do something.
However…
“I will assist you, Lord Claude!”
Esper 1, perhaps eager to make some connections with an S-class Esper, stood by his side confidently.
But when met with Claude’s cold, disdainful gaze, they slumped and withered away…
A7: Still though, please have a conscience. We’re paying a hefty tuition, so we should get something out of it. Maybe offer to help with the research or something.
Q: I did my best, but they tossed it away with contemptuous eyes…
A8: ???????
A9: The professor is garbage. Haha.
A10: Just move on.
That’s right. The professor is garbage, and Claude was truly off the rails.
Claude went about on his own, showing the determination to finish this cumbersome, annoying, and noisy outdoor training in the shortest time possible.
If he hated it so much, why did he come all the way here in the first place?
I watched in disbelief.
Anyway.
Since Claude was doing everything on his own, the six Espers and four Guides in the same team found themselves with nothing to do.
“Wow, handsome isn’t enough of a word for him, really.”
“Not to mention, he’s an S-class Esper with that kind of face. Life is just so unfair, isn’t it?”
“To be honest, I was annoyed with him because he kept causing chaos in the Guide Hall recently… Looking for the Guide who guided him right before he went on rampage, he said? Is that the reason he joined the training today?”
Coincidentally, our team ended up with four female Guides. Naturally, discussions about the most handsome man in the group, Claude, took center stage.
I listened to their NPC-like conversations.
“Omg, then… could it be… today in this team…?”
“Isn’t Razne a B-class Guide…?”
Razne was a fairly good-looking B-class Guide. Naturally, she was popular among the Center’s Espers, and her ego matched her popularity.
Razne didn’t deny what the other Guides said and just smiled.
I heard some rumors about her trying to break into the upper-tier Espers’ circle. It seemed that she didn’t mind getting involved with Claude.
Yeah, please, Razne. Just go ahead and establish a connection with Claude.
I silently and sincerely wished for it.
That’s when it happened.
An A-class Esper who had been trying to intervene with the Guides to get their attention suddenly chimed in.
“Oh, just snap out of it. I’ve seen that fellow around the Esper Hall, but I’ve never seen him touch a single Guide or hold them by the wrist even once. That guy’s definitely a non-ability person.”
This A-class Esper was quite notorious.
His name was Valan. He had recently manifested as an Esper and joined the Center but had already received disciplinary actions several times for s****l harassment issues involving Guides.
He frequently made inappropriate remarks to the Guides or attempted unnecessary physical contact, and thus, he had been branded as a problematic figure at the Center.
Naturally, the Guides didn’t respond well to him.
“…What’s wrong with you.”
“Did we ask for your opinion?”
