Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 19
As I followed Claude, it occurred to me that there was a significant problem.
When using teleportation, it’s essential for everyone to hold onto each other tightly.
That’s why the Espers and guides had formed a close-knit circle when they ripped the return scroll earlier.
However, Claude had severe mysophobia, so much so that he even refused any necessary physical contact with even the Guides who he needed.
He wouldn’t willingly touch a Guide, let alone a non-ability like me.
Could I expect him to extend a helping hand to save me?
Claude, with his long strides, walked past me.
“…Wait, wait for me.”
“…”
“Ah, please wait a sec! Slow down a little!”
I tried to keep up, fearing he might leave me behind. However, my injured ankle made it difficult to walk properly.
There was a huge difference in the lengths of our legs, so our paces were naturally different. Even more so now that I’m injured.
During this time, Claude didn’t look back once.
Tears welled up as I felt the universe itself conspiring against me.
I was a non-ability in everyone’s eyes, but right now, it seemed like I was nothing short of a fly on the wall to him.
Right. There was absolutely zero chance that he’d save me anyway.
My emotions swelled within me.
“…Whatever! Go on ahead, you jerk!”
And so, I yelled.
It was the first time Claude, who had previously ignored my pleas, stopped dead in his tracks.
I didn’t back down.
“Just abandon me, why don’t you! Go ahead and survive all by yourself— Let’s see if you can eat a lot and live happily after this!”
“…”
“The reason you don’t have a Guide is because of that twisted, despicable, irredeemable head of yours!”
Claude turned fully to face me for the first time. He looked shocked.
By this point, I was filled with determination.
“Did you know? If I die, you’ll never be able to find that Guide you’ve been so desperate to meet!”
“…What did you just say?”
The air suddenly shifted.
Claude’s expression suddenly turned dark and menacing, which was quite a shift from his usual stern demeanor.
He was always intimidating, but now he seemed even more terrifying.
Now, it really seemed like he was going to kill someone.
So, was I intimidated?
Absolutely not.
I had no fear because I knew I was going to die anyway.
I lost my fear long ago, so I blurted out.
“What did I say? I didn’t say anything! Just go on your way! With those long legs of yours, you can power-walk to hell or whatever you want!”
“…Are you insane?”
“Oh, you’re not going to save me anyway, so go on—go! I hope you get a cramp before you even walk ten miles, you pile of bad luck!”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“…Ah, n-no… I mean, um…”
Let me cancel that last part. I mean, I’m going to die soon enough, but that didn’t mean the darkness in front of me was less menacing.
I cowered in front of Claude. As they say, ‘If looks could kill’. Well, it definitely looked like his sheer glare could kill someone right now.
“I mean, I just, I was emphasizing the smooth life you’ll have in your future…”
“Enough.”
Claude cut my nonsense short.
“Before that, what did you say.”
“…Power walking?”
“…”
“Uh, what, um, what did I say?”
To kill, or not to kill? That seemed to be the conflicting question he was grappling with right now.
Judging by the tension in this space, and with the way his forehead veins were pulsating, it’s clear that his blood pressure was definitely on the rise.
I was so afraid of doing anything to provoke him that I trembled in his presence.
“You mentioned something about a Guide.”
As he sighed and ran a hand through his hair, I couldn’t help but let go of my feeble pride. This man is just so darn attractive. Despite the dire situation, how could he look so sexy?
“What do you know.”
“…What difference does it make if I know something?”
“If you don’t know, forget about getting crushed by boulders eventually. I’ll personally make sure that you’ll die by my hands.”
“Oh, I know. I know!”
Desperately, I spoke, thinking that if he’s such a terrifying guy, it should be enough even if I say that.
“Tell me.”
“So, well…”
That was when it happened.
BOOM!
With a deafening noise, the large rock ceiling behind me collapsed.
Shards scattered in all directions, and even hit the back of my head. I couldn’t move a muscle.
“Answer me.”
Even while that happened, this punk didn’t even bat an eyelash.
Of course he wouldn’t. Even if the cave collapsed, he could still stroll away, no problem!
“What did I, um, see?”
“…”
“I, uhhh, I’ve seen many things, so I don’t know what exactly you’re asking about. That part where you were just on the verge of a rampage? That you grabbed someone randomly passing by and immediately kissed them? Going at it forever and then—!”
I couldn’t say another word as an evil hand went over my face.
Claude‘s face was right in front of mine.
His blood-red eyes looked like they could devour me at any moment.
I was so scared that I couldn’t even breathe.
