Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 20
“Speak.”
“W-what, what…”
“The person you saw. Who was it.”
Honestly, it was terrifying. I wanted to reveal that I’m the Guide he’s looking for.
But if I reveal that fact?
To him, killing a person would be nothing. Even if he finds out I’m the Guide he’s been looking for, did it look like he’d treat me kindly and cherish me?
Fat chance. There’s no way that a guy who enjoys breaking people’s necks would possibly do such a thing.
Even if it’s not a ‘break-neck’ ending, he might just lock me up for life in an underground prison without ever letting me see the sunlight again.
Claude’s grip on my chin tightened. If he applied a little more force to that hand, my jawbone would turn into crushed ice just like those rock golems a moment ago.
So, what should I do?
In the midst of a fierce internal conflict,
Crash!
With a noise that felt like it would shatter my eardrums, once again, the cave’s ceiling collapsed.
“Ah!”
There was no time for rational thinking.
Out of fear, I grabbed whatever I could see, and it happened to be Claude’s neck.
“What is this…!”
“Ah! I’m going to die!”
But that moment didn’t last long.
Claude unceremoniously pushed me away because I was holding onto his neck.
My face got scratched as it slid on the cold stone floor.
Whether he liked it or not, Claude had a horrified expression while he hurriedly wiped his neck with a handkerchief as if he had dirtied it.
“This… just what…!”
Wiping it so vigorously as if it were covered in filth, Claude shivered.
It’s too much. You’re so mean.
My eyes welled up with tears out of sheer humiliation.
The female lead had her neck broken, then she died. I might not have been crushed to the point of complaining, but it was really, really humiliating.
When he had kissed me, it felt so pleasurable then. But now, was I nothing more than a dirty germ if I’m not a Guide?
My mom once warned me not to fall for any good-looking guys.
Mom, is it because I didn’t listen to you that I ended up involved with this guy with a severe personality disorder?
But honestly, I haven’t done anything so wrong that I deserve to die, have I?
Even though my eyes were burning from incoming tears, I forced myself to hold them back.
As I lifted my head, I saw Claude, who was looking down at me with disdain.
“…Get me out of here. If you don’t save me, I’ll never speak.”
“…”
“Regardless of what end I might face, if you leave me here to die, you’ll be miserable for the rest of your life.”
Claude stared at me in silence for a while.
It seemed like he was genuinely conflicted.
Should I kill this tiny brat or save her?
Perhaps I was the only person who dared to be so smug in front of that deadly expression.
After a long while, he made a determined expression as if he had reached a decision.
Then he took off the cloak he was wearing.
“…Oh, why are you…”
“…”
“Gah! Why are you coming closer?”
Could it be that the cloak would be my coffin?
I tried to step back, but of course, he was much faster.
Flutter.
His large cloak draped over my shoulders. I felt its substantial weight, causing me to cower.
…There’s no way he’s doing this kindly all of a sudden, is he?
I was puzzled for a moment. Then.
Swish!
“Ugh, what are you doing?”
My body was spun around, and before I knew it, I was bundled up in the cloak, with only my face and feet exposed.
I was like a strawberry cake roll.
Claude, who had been looking down at me disapprovingly, slipped me to his side as if I were just an object.
“This… this is outrageous…!”
In the end, because of his mysophobia, he couldn’t touch me even if I were to die, and he needed to find his Guide.
So, he decided to wrap me up like a roll cake and carry me on his side.
He was truly a thug who had no hesitations in trampling on human dignity!
With my body completely bundled up, I struggled, and Claude snarled with his teeth clenched.
“Shut your mouth. I’m holding back the urge to rip that yapping jaw of yours.”
…Right. What use is human dignity when one’s life is at stake?
***
“Rose!”
I could sense a bright light and hear voices calling me like screams…
“Oof!”
I was thrown to the ground.
When Claude had pushed me earlier, it had scratched my left buttcheek, but now my right buttcheek was scratched. At least it seemed like I had symmetrically injured both sides…
Anyway, somehow or another, I successfully made it out of the collapsing cave safely.
