Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 202
The aquamarine hue of his eyes beneath his long eyelashes was not just beautiful but almost mystical. Added to this was an indescribable aura of innocence and melancholy.
I already had an Esper partner, so I wondered, ‘Which Guide will end up with such an Esper?’ But the other female Guides felt differently.
It was the first time I’d seen the female Guides so enthusiastic during class. Of course, the reason wasn’t for purely academic reasons, but simply Daniel.
Previously, it was rare to see Daniel because he avoided the Guides, but now he was regularly attending most of the joint training sessions. Naturally, the female Guides were delighted.
Typically, Guides held the upper hand in relationships with Espers, but the situation changed when it came to Daniel.
He had it all—looks, abilities, and character. He was always among the top choices in popularity polls among the Guides. Anyone, Guide or not, would find him appealing.
This led to an unexpected side effect…
“That project, the ‘Idol Rose Something or Another’… it might actually succeed.”
“What?”
“Oh, nothing…”
I muttered it without thinking and quickly brushed it off. Simeyez and Epine looked at me curiously.
I felt bad for the overzealous Demona, but I had stopped caring about the “Idol Rose Blah” project a while ago.
However, since Daniel started attending the joint training sessions, the female Guides were so eager to participate that the average academic performance had skyrocketed.
…Good job, Daniel. You really are a true friend.
I swallowed my unnecessary thoughts, but I couldn’t help feeling someone’s gaze on me.
Puzzled, I looked up to see Simeyez and Epine watching me with curious expressions.
Then…
“A brave Guide conquers a great Esper. I need to go talk to him.”
“…Me too.”
“Huh?”
Epine and Simeyez suddenly stood up, looking determined. They headed straight toward Daniel, who was standing far away.
What’s going on with them…?
I didn’t understand, but I followed them with my eyes and naturally looked at Daniel again.
Daniel was already surrounded by several female Guides. He seemed to be conversing with them, smiling, but… I noticed.
Daniel was tense, his neck and jaw muscles visibly stiff. It was no surprise he was struggling, being surrounded by what he saw as moving landmines.
Fortunately, only his face was exposed, and he was much taller than the female Guides, so there was no immediate risk.
“…I hope it goes well.”
I murmured to myself.
Irene still showed no signs of manifesting.
If Irene and Daniel showed even a hint of mutual interest, I would have set up more opportunities for them, believing in the original story. But that didn’t seem to be the case.
The original story had already gone waaaaay off track. Maybe Irene manifesting as a Guide or Irene and Daniel falling in love would never happen.
If so, I hoped any Guide could save him.

“Alright, let’s have Group A come forward.”
The instructor called the team. I, along with two other Guides and several Espers, stood up.
Today’s joint training was an indoor simulation. It was almost like the outdoor simulation, but the map and mutants were replaced with holograms.
Holographic mutants weren’t as dangerous as real ones but needed to be physically defeated to disappear. The advantage was that the mutants’ movements could be set to various levels and scenarios.
“Uh, please don’t go past the taped area. It’s still under construction and could be dangerous.”
However, there were limitations to indoor simulations, mainly the high cost of the hologram technology. Therefore, the only place in the center where this training could be conducted was the main auditorium.
…The very place where Claude had destroyed the rock golems during his demonstration.
