Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 244
No matter how different one’s ideal type and reality can be, Daniel’s description was the exact opposite of Irene.
It made sense why they were always at each other’s throats whenever they met.
While I was lost in these thoughts, a Guide summed things up.
“So, to sum it up, Lord Daniel’s ideal type is a bright, lively, confident, and petite female guide?”
Realizing he had been tricked, Daniel’s face showed his embarrassment.
“Is that… how it comes across?”
“Then, among the Guides here, who is closest to your ideal type?”
“Uh, that…”
As he struggled to answer, one Guide who had been quietly observing finally spoke up.
“…Rose?”
“Yes?”
Hearing my name unexpectedly, I let out a startled sound, which drew all the Guides’ attention to me.
A brief period of silence fell.
That silence was broken by the Guide who had called my name, as she burst into laughter.
“Were you zoning out, Rose? Sorry, sorry. I wasn’t calling you—I was asking Lord Daniel if you were the closest to his ideal type among us.”
“Why did you have to mention me when I was just sitting quietly…?”
I stammered in confusion, and the Guide who had pointed me out shrugged nonchalantly.
“It’s just an example. You’re the smallest among us, and there’s no Guide in this place as bright and confident as you.”
The Guide who mentioned me, and the others listening, probably didn’t take the question too seriously.
It wasn’t meant to be a serious question. If Daniel had just said something like, ‘Yes, Lady Rose is charming too,’ and laughed it off, there wouldn’t have been any problem.
If he had kept a polite distance without causing embarrassment.
That was probably the reaction they expected from Daniel.
But the problem was…
“…”
Daniel’s eyes widened in surprise as he looked at me.
He opened his mouth as if to say something, but no words came out, and then his mouth closed tightly as if it would never open again.
The next moment, his whole face and neck flushed bright red.
…As if he had been caught off guard and frozen in place.
“Uh…”
Seeing his reaction, the Guides who had been teasing him were now the ones feeling awkward.
The Guide who had asked the question smiled awkwardly and stammered.
“Lord Daniel…”
“…”
“You do know that Rose and Lord Claude are already an imprinted pair, right?”
Only after hearing this did Daniel break his gaze from me and turn his head.
His lips remained tightly closed. His neck, strained with veins from clenching his teeth, was a deep shade of red.
“…Yes, I know.”
“…”
“I… I have never dared to dream of such a thing…”
Oh, I sighed inwardly.
It was the final nail in the coffin.
* * *
“What exactly is your charm?”
“…”
“Do S-Class Espers just naturally like people who are half as tall as everyone else?”
“…What?”
“Or maybe, because there are few people stronger than them, they find your fierce and bold personality attractive?”
Could you take it down a notch…?
I glared, and only then did Epine back off. But even then, she mumbled,
“Hmm, it seems you need eyes like that to captivate an S-Class Esper…”
Since the incident happened during the break, we still had to attend the rest of the lecture.
Of course, the atmosphere was dismal. The instructor might have been wondering why the Guides were so unusually quiet in class, but in truth, no one could focus on the lesson.
Even Epine, sitting right next to me, was muttering in shock, so it was clear how the other Guides felt. I could distinctly feel them glancing at me and whispering.
Both Daniel and I knew that storming out in the middle of the lecture would only make things worse.
So, knowing that all the Guides were whispering and glancing at us, we had no choice but to stay put until the end.
