Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 265
[I’m going out. To meet Lord Daniel. I’m planning to try and cure his guiding allergy. Since I’m meeting him for my own reasons, please don’t be mad at him.]
That was what was written on the note Rose had left behind. Oscar had no idea what to make of it.
Even Oscar, who had no interest in anyone other than female Espers, knew that Daniel, an S-Class Esper, had developed a guiding allergy.
But even so, how could Rose, who wasn’t a doctor, possibly cure it? And even if she could, why would she get involved in another Esper’s affairs when Claude was clearly right there?
And above all… why did she have to meet him alone in a secluded place away from prying eyes?
Oscar had always thought Claude was overly sensitive about his Guide. But seeing the scene now… he could understand why Claude felt that way.
It was just that suspicious on the surface. Anyone would think that Rose, meeting another Esper in secret and holding hands, was engaging in a forbidden romance.
The strange part, however, was Rose’s intention of announcing her plan so boldly before doing something so suspicious.
…Of course, whatever her intention was, it wouldn’t have calmed Claude down.
“Lord Claude, it’s a misunderstanding.”
Daniel cautiously stepped forward, trying to mediate the situation. Oscar clicked his tongue at the sight of him.
Even a typical Esper would have been furious. But it had to be someone as accomplished as him.
With a composed and tidy appearance, Daniel spoke calmly.
“Lady Rose has no feelings for me. She was merely trying to cure my guiding allergy once and for all today…”
“Go ahead and make your excuses.”
Claude didn’t even glance at Daniel, instead growling at his Guide. Unlike usual, he didn’t even think to mask his expression for his typically fearful Guide.
For Claude, not crushing Daniel’s hand, which had been holding Rose’s, was already an exercise of superhuman patience.
Despite his indulgence, the blatant act of guiding another Esper after announcing it to his face was too much for him to handle.
But Rose’s eyes, looking up at him… were unnaturally calm.
No, was it appropriate to call her expression simply ‘calm’?
As far as Claude knew, Rose’s expressions when looking at him were always extreme. She could be overjoyed by the smallest things, or sink into deep gloom over what seemed like nothing to him.
In other words, her eyes always clearly showed whether she was terrified or filled with undeniable affection when looking at him.
But now…
“I told you, I was going to prove it. I thought if I could guide Lord Daniel and cure his guiding allergy, you might believe me.”
“…What?”
“But I failed again. Right, well, taking a Guide with such inconsistent guiding abilities would just be a burden for you…”
At this point, it was Claude who was bewildered. If she had just yelled at him and attacked him like she used to, it might have been better.
Even Claude, who prided himself on having seen many sides of Rose, had never seen this. A self-deprecating and cynical expression on her face.
“…Rose.”
Even as Claude’s face hardened and he spoke sternly, Rose didn’t care.
“Why? I just said you were right. Isn’t this something you should be happy about?”
Claude was at a loss for words. He had no idea how to handle a Rose who seemed so deeply dejected. He simply lacked the experience to deal with this situation.
While Claude was struggling, Rose angrily shook off his hand.
“Let go of me. I’ll go back as you wanted.”
Claude couldn’t even think to stop her. Leaving the three frozen men behind, Rose disappeared.
