Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 295
Not long after the mutilated corpse was discovered, a new clue emerged: a single slipper.
It could have been discarded trash from a nearby village, but it appeared relatively clean as if it had been lost recently. Moreover, its size closely matched that of the missing person.
The doctor confirmed that the missing person’s body was hot with fever, while her hands and feet were cold, prompting the nurse to put slippers on her.
Despite another full day of searching, no further clues were found.
The missing person had been completely defenseless. Compared to the nurse, who was already found half-eaten, Rose had an even smaller, frailer frame.
Considering all the circumstances, the most realistic and simultaneously worst-case scenario pointed to one possibility.
Rose had likely been swallowed whole by a mutant and killed before the nurse.
Yet, no one dared to say that continuing the search was pointless. Thus, time passed mercilessly.

Oscar took a deep breath. He needed to prepare himself.
Sure enough, the moment he stepped into the tent, the heavy atmosphere almost suffocated him.
Claude was sitting on a cot. Although he must have sensed Oscar’s presence, he didn’t move an inch.
Though he sat silently with his head bowed, he seemed as volatile as a ticking time bomb.
“Did you get any sleep…?”
Oscar asked cautiously, standing awkwardly in front of Claude.
Unsurprisingly, there was no response. He hadn’t expected one.
Oscar debated intensely.
What should he say? Should he leave? Would his presence even comfort Claude?
Uncharacteristically, Oscar felt uncertain.
But he couldn’t just leave his friend, who hadn’t rested properly in days.
“Hey, don’t you know Rose? She’s no ordinary girl.”
After much hesitation, Oscar spoke in a light-hearted tone.
“No matter how great you are, Rose has always been one step ahead of you. She’s managed to stay by your side all this time, even with all her antics. Do you really think a mutant could take her down? I bet she could survive even if she were thrown into a mutant den.”
Oscar knew too well. Even if they managed to find Rose, the chances of her being unharmed were slim.
If by some miracle she was still alive, she might be hiding somewhere. Despite her lack of field experience, she had extensive theoretical knowledge about mutants.
But after searching the area thoroughly for days, all they had found were a tuft of hair and a single slipper.
It was unlikely that Rose, in her weakened state, could have gotten far.
Too much time had passed.
The temperature difference between day and night at the border was drastic. She had been wearing only thin patient clothes—there was no way she could have survived for four days in such conditions.
Given how the nurse had been found in such a gruesome state, it might be a blessing if they could even recover Rose’s body.
If she had been swallowed whole, the tuft of hair in the nurse’s grasp could be all that was left of her.
It wasn’t an overly pessimistic assumption, given that after four days of intense searching, no other clues had been found.
Everything pointed to the worst-case scenario.
