Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 37
In a moment of frustration, I blurted out.
“…Claude, that fvcking lunatic.”
“Pfft.”
“Cough!”
Logs 1 and 3 burst into laughter at once. Only Log 2 seemed restless, glancing nervously towards Claude.
It’s all the same for everyone, really…
Seems like I’ve found a way to humanize these logs. I hadn’t realized before because they were always so expressionless and silent.
They’re people, not NPCs. In the end, they’re just following their boss on a date, like any other employee.
And the best way to bond with colleagues is by complaining about the boss.
“…Now that you’ve laughed, we’re all in the same boat. If you snitch, we all go down together.”
“Ahem, ahem.”
“Claude, that son of a btch.”
“Pfft…!”
Tsk, tsk, they must have held in so much… I clicked my tongue inwardly.
Not expecting them to join in, but at least understanding, I started to vent more freely.
“Seriously, it’s too much. I don’t even know who it is, but I still have to follow them around. If it’s something he wants, he should at least pay extra. This feels like unpaid volunteer work without any compensation.”
“…”
“…And if you’re going to come to a place like this, at least order something for us too! They’re just eating by themselves!”
“…”
“How inconsiderate to the café owner! These big guys taking up a large table and not even ordering!”
“…”
“…Ah, sorry for calling you ‘big guys.’ It’s a compliment. You guys are in great shape. A man’s worth is in his back muscles, right? Kyahh.”
“…”
…Did I ramble too much? With no reaction, I just kept talking, following my train of thought. Feeling awkward, I finally shut up.
An uncomfortable silence briefly hovered over the table.
“…Um.”
Log 1, who had been pretending not to laugh, quietly stood up and spoke.
“We were inconsiderate. We don’t usually eat much while on duty… If you’d like a dessert, please order. We’ll pay for it.”
“Whoa, then I won’t refuse…”
I quickly followed Log 1 to the counter. The desserts looked exceptionally tempting at this famous spot.
My eyes lit up as I clung to the counter, and Log 1 asked,
“What would you like to order?”
“Hmm, wait a minute, this looks delicious, and that, and that too…”
“You can just choose them all.”
…Wow.
I looked up at Log 1 with half-admiration in my eyes.
Such a noble soul under Claude’s command.
Now that I noticed, he was surprisingly handsome. The shimmering blond hair and ocean-blue eyes were striking enough, but the finely chiseled features were a bonus.
I’ve never really thought this way about a man before… He was beautiful and innocent-looking.
Despite being dressed in all black, he was tall and well-built.
And he was mannerly too. When I tried to carry the tray piled high with pastries, he gently stopped me and took it himself.
It might not seem like a grand gesture, but… Espers typically don’t treat non-guides as people.
Take Claude, for instance, who doesn’t pay me extra for all the errands he’s sending me off to.
So, treating a non-ability person like me this kindly must mean he’s genuinely good-natured.
Returning to our table, having admired him so openly, Log 1 showed an awkward smile, pretending not to notice.
“Um, why are you looking at me like that?”
“…Because you’re so handsome.”
“…”
“Do you have a partner? You must already be taken, right? I can’t imagine Guides would leave someone like you alone.”
Log 1 blushed, seemingly embarrassed by my comment.
Too cute.
Well, the Claude route is a bust anyway… maybe I should scope out a new Esper?
Entertaining these dark thoughts, I followed him back to our table.
But once seated, the immediate future of Espers and whatnot was overshadowed by the desserts in front of me.
Unable to resist, I bit into a tart…
“Wow, so hella good…”
“…”
“Ahem, it’s really delicious. You should try some too.”
I must manage my image, especially with a potential future husband here.
