Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 58
Claude had always scoffed at Espers who were obsessed with their Guides.
Yet, as if being punished for his mockery, Claude found himself excessively fixated on a woman who wasn’t even a guide.
“Claude, isn’t it just… you’ve fallen for her at first sight?” Oscar asked, bewildered. Claude scowled.
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
“Come on, Espers and Guides aside, we’re all human. Even a non-ability person can be charming enough to attract someone, right?”
“…”
Claude dismissed Oscar’s words as utterly useless.
Even Oscar, who changed girlfriends weekly, never paid attention to non-ability women, let alone those who weren’t Espers.
Claude, an S-class Esper, had managed without guiding for over a decade through medication alone. He had mastered self-control and restraint.
Yet now, he was caught in a whirlwind of emotions so intense it felt explosive.
He couldn’t be swayed by something as romantic as love at first sight, unless it was the instinctual pull between an Esper and a Guide.
But no matter how much he denied it, a civilian could not be a Guide.
His rational mind told him to give up, but his instincts kept chasing after her.
He had someone investigate her background, report her daily schedule.
He even volunteered for mock training exercises he’d never participated in before.
Claude was angry at himself for such foolishness.
He detested crowds, dust, and being dragged around for pointless tasks, all of which were present in the training. It was as terrible as he had anticipated.
Worst of all was his inability to take his eyes off the pink-haired woman, even covered in dust.
Then the cave collapsed, leaving him alone with the annoying pink-haired woman.
He never planned to leave her to die. He could have teleported out to fetch another scroll and returned.
But the woman was convinced he would never save her.
Unexpectedly, she brought up a topic.
“…What did I see? I, uhhh, I’ve seen many things, so I don’t know what exactly you’re asking about. That part where you were just on the verge of a rampage? That you grabbed someone randomly passing by and immediately kissed them? Going at it forever and then—!”
She knew in detail about that night, things unknown to the guard and the woman who claimed to be his Guide.
Thud, thud.
His heart started pounding heavily.
It was true. He was constantly drawn to her, unable to look away.
The reason he felt an unexplainable thirst was…
“Speak. The person you saw. Who was it.”
Say that it’s you.
Just say you’re my Guide.
With that one sentence, he would never let go again.
He would keep her confined, never allowing her to stray from his side.
To ravage her every day and night…
“Aah!”
Startled by the sound of the collapsing ceiling, the woman suddenly fell into his arms.
There was no exposed skin except for the top of his shirt, unbuttoned at the collar.
For Claude, who was uneasy even near people, such contact would never happen under normal circumstances, but he was caught off guard.
The woman’s arms encircled his neck, her bare skin touching his.
There was no guiding.
Instead…
Tears soaking his shoulder…
Possibly mixed with snot and saliva…
His heart rapidly cooled.
This woman was not his Guide.
T/N: I gotta say, Rose’s instincts were right on the money. If she had admitted right away that she’s his Guide, he would have went full yandere on her complete with the locking up in the dungeon part, and would see her only as a guiding battery until he’d slowly fall in twisted love with her… just like so many other novels lol
But with her being kind of like a demisexual Guide, right from the start, Claude has to win her over before he could even receive any guiding hahaha
I love this story so much, gosh
