Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 75
***
After fifteen days, I finally met with Irene again.
It had been a really long time.
While Claude was obsessively particular about interior design, he didn’t actually lock me up.
The issue was his insistence on accompanying me wherever I went, claiming he couldn’t bear it if I was out of his sight.
I knew if I brought Claude along, Irene would never agree to meet me again.
So, after much consoling and appeasing, I managed to go out alone.
I couldn’t believe just going out to meet Irene was so hard. It’s a waste of effort for me too.
But anyway, her only roommate had suddenly disappeared without a word, not showing up for work, and right before disappearing, I had confided in her about my entanglement with a dangerous man.
It seemed only right that Irene should know whether I was alive or dead, and I had some things to consult her about.
So, I went to meet Irene at the Guide Division during her lunch break. I took her to the break room and honestly spilled everything that had happened.
Irene just quietly listened to my story, then fell silent for a while.
I waited nervously for her reaction. What would she say after hearing everything?
Finally, Irene spoke…
“I knew it.”
She clucked her tongue as if I was pitiful.
I couldn’t believe it.
“Did you hear me properly?”
“Yes, I heard everything.”
“But why aren’t you surprised? I’m an unregistered Guide. I’m the Guide Claude has been searching for. And now I’m living with Lord Claude!”
“I had already guessed as much.”
Irene replied nonchalantly.
How the heck…?
Irene casually explained to my shocked self.
“I thought it was strange from the beginning. Lord Claude was desperately searching for his Guide, turning the Guide Division upside down several times. Then he suddenly started hanging around with you, and you were behaving like you had something to hide.”
“…”
“I could guess as much. It’s only obvious.”
“So, you mean…”
“Don’t worry, you don’t even have any friends who would notice. No one else would put two and two together as much as I did.”
Irene reassured me, addressing the concerns I hadn’t even voiced. Wow, such intuition must be the female lead’s perk.
Irene elegantly sipped her tea and then said,
“Rose Valentine. You’re at the bottom of the food chain. And Lord Claude… well, he’s at the very top.”
“…”
“It was like a mouse worrying about a tiger. Especially someone as naïve as you trying to outsmart others; that’s why things turned out this way.”
“That’s not true…”
Irene scoffed.
I felt a bit indignant.
Irene should have been bowing in gratitude, not mocking me.
I saved her from Claude’s obsession and a twisted ending.
Now, all that was left for Irene was to have a sweet romance with the male leads without the interference of the final villain.
“Technically, I’m your savior in both love and life,” I said.
“What?”
“But how can you treat me like this…”
Irene dismissed my words as nonsense.
“This is the gratitude I get…”
Irene had only watched me, then suddenly commented,
“You’ve gained a lot of weight, huh.”
“What? You seriously wanna fight?”
“Your skin looks good, though. Yet your head’s still a flower garden.”
“That’s it. Bring it on— fight me! I might be short, but I’m tough…”
“It’s a good thing. Lord Claude must have a unique taste. You seem to be quite to his liking.”
How could gaining weight and having a ‘flower-brain’ be good things?
Irene smiled at my puzzled reaction.
“Poor naive girl, lured and troubled. I thought he would just be oppressive with his power, but this is unexpected.”
