Becoming the Guide of the Mysophobic Villain? Absolutely Not! - Chapter 86
I hurried to the entrance with Azir. As I was putting on my shoes, a thought suddenly struck me.
“But senior, is it really okay for you to help me like this? How are you going to deal with the aftermath?”
If he had cooperated with Claude out of coercion, why suddenly become brave enough to help me?
Claude couldn’t have become any less frightening, could he?
“Oh, that? Don’t worry about it.”
“No, but seriously. Why would you betray me back then and now suddenly…!”
“I’m going to pin all the blame on you for everything I do today, including the forgery of official documents.”
“…What, what?”
“I have no choice. If he finds out I orchestrated all this, he’ll surely kill me. But if it’s all pinned on you… even if the plan fails, he wouldn’t kill his precious Guide, would he? As long as you don’t die, there’s hope!”
“…”
“Hey, don’t worry! This operation is perfect. We just need to not fail!”
Azir spoke lightly, given that his life wasn’t on the line.
No matter how much he kept emphasizing that he was doing this for my sake, whatever Azir does, he’s saying that it’ll all fall on me?
Then if it fails…?
Suddenly, I felt like I was about to faint.

Guiding Examination Room in the Guide Division.
I’ve worked in the Guide Division for nearly a year but have never been in this place. There was no need. Until now, I wasn’t a Guide but a regular person.
Every Guide passes through this room once in their lifetime. After manifestation, they’re tested here for their guiding wavelengths, and the results are used for matching with Espers in the Center.
The test usually involves two or three examiners and the Guide being tested. So, it’s quite rare for this space to have more than five people at once.
Yet, here I am for the first time, surrounded by dozens of people. There were even six examiners who had given up their days off to be here.
The room was so packed that the door had to be left wide open. I could see a dense crowd extending down the hallway outside.
Standing there, receiving all their gazes, I thought to myself,
‘I swear I’ll never listen to that jerk Azir ever again.’
Azir had sold me out to save his own life, but he claimed he had struggled in every way possible out of a sliver of conscience to free me from Claude’s clutches, through a process that was anything but smooth.
First, he reported Claude to the Guide Rights Protection Committee, the primary institution in the Center for rescuing and protecting Guides harmed by Espers.
However, they responded that it was difficult to offer aid since the victim wasn’t a Guide but a regular non-ability person.
So, Azir then revealed to the committee that I was an unregistered Guide. But again, the same response came back: they couldn’t suspect an Esper based on unconfirmed facts and without clear evidence.
“That guy is the unofficial power behind the Center. Even the Center’s director trembles before him. Where would you find Espers brave enough to confront him? That’s why they don’t even attempt to verify the facts.”
On the way to the examination room, Azir ranted about the world’s unfairness and the plight of the weak.
But unexpectedly, he was full of responsibility and didn’t give up on me.
So, he ‘forged an official document in my name’ for the Code Black emergency alarm and separated me from Claude. Then, to ensure the Center could no longer ignore Claude’s misdeeds, he ‘publicized in my name’ that I was an unregistered Guide and that Claude had kidnapped, imprisoned, and threatened me.
In summary, it looked like I voluntarily walked into the Guiding Examination Room, essentially pleading, ‘Please save me from the clutches of Claude, an S-Class Esper and national hero.’
…And Azir, clueless about my situation, fled while I was being dragged away by the examiners.
Now, I sit uneasily in front of a desk with a glass sphere on it. By placing my hand on that sphere, my guiding wavelength will reveal that I am indeed a Guide and provide the names of Espers with high matching rates.
I never expected my status as a Guide to be revealed in such a dramatic fashion.
