Bound by a Ruthless Contract - Chapter 35
Like a dog.
An intense emotion he had never felt before began to boil within him.
It wasn’t because the woman was precious or dear to him.
Rather, it was because these worthless beings dared to touch what was his—his pride.
That was all. There was no other reason.
To mar what belonged to him was equivalent to clawing at his very being.
The empty water bottle crumpled like paper in his grip.
Si-heon carelessly tossed it into the sink and pulled out his phone to call Noh Man-su .
“Yes, Director.”
“Look into Ga-eun’s family relationships in detail.”
“By family relationships, you mean…”
“How she relates to each family member. Don’t miss even the smallest rumor. You have a week.”
Having rushed to the hotel as soon as he discovered her name and matchmaking schedule, he hadn’t yet read her report.
“Understood. Any other instructions?”
After a moment’s thought, Si-heon spoke.
“Prepare for a wedding ceremony at Hotel Hwan Hwanhee’s rooftop garden in May.”
“D-Director! That’s barely two months away!”
“Do I need to repeat myself?”
At Si-heon’s sunken voice, Noh Man-su hastily replied.
“I’ll follow your instructions.”
“Ensure nothing is lacking in the preparations.”
Even so, two months is impossible!
Though he heard Man-su’s silent scream, Si-heon coolly ignored it and ended the call.
It seems the wedding needs to be expedited.
Things would move quickly.
The woman—his remedy—would gladly follow him. She wouldn’t hesitate about marriage because of such a family.
Leaving the dining room, Si-heon entered the bathroom adjoining the master room and took a shower.
‘Perhaps this is for the better.’
After all, nothing was easier than preying on someone who had become weak.
As he dried his hair quickly with a dryer and lay on the bed, Ga-eun’s image floated above the ceiling.
…Who had dared to install a projector without his permission?
Though he knew no one would have the guts to do such a thing, Si-heon couldn’t believe it.
How else could he explain the woman’s image appearing so vividly up there?
Her small smile when they first met at the Youngso Hotel jazz bar, when she said it was her first time speaking to a man.
Her curious expression when asking who had given her her name.
Her calm gaze when she mentioned divorce in response to his proposal.
“…Damn it.”
Rising from the bed again, he went to the dressing room and searched through the inside pocket of the jacket he’d worn today.
What he held in his hand was Ga-eun’s hairpin.
He’d taken it as a substitute, just in case.
“I’ll take that.”
“What… Do you mean?”
“The hairpin.”
“Why?”
“I’ll take it in place of our Ga-eun.”
“…What are you saying?”
Though she shot him a delicate glare, Ga-eun had readily handed over the hairpin with a simple “here.”
As if it were nothing special.
She seemed accustomed to having her things taken away.
Perhaps this was a prejudice formed after hearing about her poor relationship with her sister.
“You require a lot of attention, our Ga-eun.”
First, he would need to deal with the sister.
To ensure she never laid hands on what was his again.
He muttered lowly, then let out a long sigh as he ran his hands through his hair.
How was he already like this when they’d barely known each other?
He never knew being too compatible could be a problem.
Then Si-heon’s eyes snapped open.
Perhaps it would be better to unite before the ceremony.

The next day.
The atmosphere around the Gye Young-cheol family breakfast table was markedly different from any other morning.
“Ga-eun, try these strawberries.”
Ga-eun froze as a plate of strawberries was thrust before her the moment she sat down.
