Bound by a Ruthless Contract - Chapter 47
The black sedan pulled into the garage.
The engine purred to a gentle stop.
Click.
After unfastening his seatbelt, Si-heon turned his head.
“…”
Ga-eun was asleep.
Covered by his jacket, the woman sleeping quietly looked just like a doll.
Was she even breathing?
He liked that she didn’t have a single bothersome habit even while sleeping.
She truly was the perfect embodiment of the term ‘ultimate medicine.’
Did Gye Ga-eun know?
That this was the first time he had let a woman in his car, let alone driven one himself.
“Will you… drive yourself, sir?”
He took a shallow breath, remembering Kim Jun-min’s surprised face.
It had been impulse.
He could have simply told Kim Jun-min to take her home.
But seeing Ga-eun clutching his jacket and trembling, that thought had evaporated, and before he knew it, he was in the driver’s seat.
‘It’s also the first time I’ve brought a woman to my home.’
Besides employees and Chief Secretary Noh Man-su, no one visited this house.
This woman really was taking all his firsts.
Round forehead. Smooth bridge of the nose. Long eyelashes. White cheeks.
Red, soft lips.
Drawing his gaze away from lingering there too long, Si-heon got out of the car and walked around the hood to the passenger side.
The woman who hadn’t stirred when he opened the door furrowed her brow slightly and lifted her eyelids as he took her in his arms.
“Mmm… Mr. Kwon Si-heon…?”
“Keep sleeping.”
“Where is…”
Thud. Closing the door with his body, Si-heon replied indifferently.
“My house.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he headed for the elevator and pressed the button.
The doors on the first basement floor with the garage opened immediately.
Only when they entered the elevator with her still in his arms did Ga-eun come to her senses.
“P-put me down, please.”
No sooner had Ga-eun finished speaking than the elevator arrived at the first floor, its doors sliding open on both sides.
Si-heon continued carrying Ga-eun as he walked down the long corridor.
“Mr. Kwon Si-heon, please put me down.”
“As you wish.”
Only after entering the bedroom did he gently lay Ga-eun down on the bed.
Ga-eun glanced around with a slightly anxious expression.
Everything was grey or black.
Thankfully, sunlight filtered through the gaps between the blackout curtains drawn on either side.
As she drew in a breath from tension, she caught the deep forest scent that always emanated from Si-heon.
Was she going mad?
‘Why… does my heart feel so at ease?’
Perhaps she was acting this way because she felt intimidated by the unsavory men she had encountered at Nam-hee-dong. No, that must be it.
There could be no other reason.
“Done looking around?”
“What? Oh…”
“You can look more later. I think you need to rest first.”
Ga-eun shook her head.
“No, I’m fine. I need to meet the Artist, and I have to get my car, and also…”
“Let’s skip all that today. It seems like today has been quite overwhelming for you, and it’s only noon.”
Then, his large hand gripped her shoulder.
“And you don’t seem to realize.”
“Realize what…”
“Your lips right now.”
Si-heon leaned down and whispered.
“They’re trembling. Like crazy.”
As if suddenly becoming aware of her own trembling, she drew in a sharp breath.
Though her body had stopped shaking, it seemed her lips were still quivering.
Si-heon pushed back on Ga-eun’s shoulder that he was holding.
“Ah…!”
Paying no mind to her startled reaction, Si-heon climbed over her, looking down with emotionless eyes like a ruler surveying his domain.
“Move away, please move.”
“I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
Even though our bodies may be perfectly compatible, to think we’re heading toward marriage for that reason alone.
“Let’s settle this.”
Of all things, to act like this right after she had just experienced harassment and threats from men in Nam-hee-dong.
Something welled up inside Ga-eun, boiling hot with emotion.
How could he do this, no matter what?
Even if she was worthless, even if she was just one among countless women he could choose from, still, this…
The burning sensation inside climbed up through her heart and began to spread to her eyes.
She felt tears coming.
She felt wronged, frightened, and sad.
‘Don’t cry. Absolutely not.’
Just as she resolved this and tried to push him away—
Her vision went dark.
“I’ll contact the gallery. I’ll take care of getting your car back too.”
The large hand covering her eyes felt warmer than she expected.
“So don’t think about anything and just lie down.”
“Just now… you clearly meant to sleep…”
“Exactly.”
Ga-eun bit her lip.
‘So that’s what he meant, telling me to sleep.’
She didn’t even want to imagine what Si-heon’s expression looked like as he gazed down at her.
