Epilogue
Nancy, recorded in history as the last Hero, headed to the Demon King’s castle after being exiled from Verus. There was no better place for new opportunities than an unclaimed land.
At first, the demons fiercely resisted the idea of a human living among them.
“Why don’t you try fighting the hero with your strength? Let’s see who wins.”
But no one had the courage to challenge her.
Nancy captured those who preyed on the weaker demons. With the decrease in pillaging, goods began flowing more easily between villages, and commerce started to thrive.
A few years later, Nancy finally succeeded in achieving her long-cherished goal—connecting the trade route between the Demon King’s castle and Verus.
“I really am amazing!” she exclaimed, sipping wine by herself in celebration of her achievements.
Aaron called to her from the doorway.
“I know you’re amazing, but it’s time to sleep. The kids are all in bed. You should get some rest too.”
Aaron pointed to the clock, which had struck 10 p.m. Recently, Nancy had been overworking herself to complete the trade route. Despite Aaron telling her to go to bed first, she often stayed up, agonizing over details and becoming sleep-deprived.
Unable to watch her exhaust herself any longer, Aaron had imposed a strict rule: he would tuck her into bed at 10 p.m., no exceptions.
“Can’t I stay up late just this once? It’s not overworking—it’s a celebration!” she protested.
“Nope,” Aaron replied firmly, taking the glass from her hand and placing it on the table. Pouting, Nancy stretched her arms and let her body go limp.
Whenever she did this, Aaron would sling her over his shoulder and carry her to the bedroom. At first, being treated like a sack of goods annoyed her, but eventually, she realized it was more convenient to let him carry her.
But tonight, instead of slinging her over his shoulder, Aaron slipped a hand under her knees and lifted her in his arms. Nancy’s eyes widened in surprise, and she quickly realized what he had in mind.
“So when you said ‘let’s go to bed,’ you didn’t mean that kind of sleep, did you?” she teased, eyeing him with a mischievous grin.
Feigning innocence, Aaron carried her toward the bedroom.
“Are you walking faster than usual?” she asked, noting his increasing pace.
“This isn’t fast. Fast would be more like this.”
Suddenly, Aaron broke into a sprint. Nancy clung to his neck, laughing and squealing. “You’ll wake the kids!” he hushed her with a playful shhh.
Nancy quieted down but began peppering his cheeks and jaw with teasing kisses instead. That’s when she caught a whiff of something unusual.
“You smell nice,” she said.
“Do I?”
“Did you put on cologne?”
Even as she asked, Nancy didn’t really believe it. Aaron wasn’t one to use cologne.
She figured one of their children must have spilled something fruity on him. However, Aaron averted his gaze, looking uncomfortable.
“Did you really put on cologne?”
“…”
“You don’t even like wearing it.”
Aaron glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, then entered the bedroom without a word. He kicked the door shut behind him and headed straight for the bed, his expression a mix of embarrassment and mild annoyance.
Nancy rolled her eyes, finally piecing it together.
“So, you really planned something tonight, huh?”
“I was, until someone decided to drink alone without even looking for me.”
There was a sharp edge to his words. Nancy realized now why he had been standing at the door, glaring at her disapprovingly. It wasn’t just about her drinking.
“Are you mad?” she asked, kissing his cheek in quick pecks.
“You reek of alcohol. How much did you drink?”
“It’s a good day, so I had ju~st a little,” she replied, drawing out her words.
Aaron’s eyebrows shot up in annoyance.
“Was it so good you forgot you had a husband?”
It seemed Aaron was more upset than she had realized.
Nancy, on the other hand, was amused by the urgency in his hands as he undressed, dropping his clothes quickly after setting her down on the bed.
It was clear who was the more impatient one tonight—he was practically simmering with frustration, both above and below.
Unlike him, Nancy took her time, unbuttoning her top slowly. Unable to stand her leisurely pace, Aaron pushed her hands away and undid the buttons himself.
Nancy could feel his hard, heavy arousal pressing against her through his pants. He was ready, no doubt about that.
