Can Someone (Anyone!) Please Turn Off the Auto-Skill Setting?! - Chapter 74
Realizing she had to escape on her own, she grabbed the door of the cage and shook it with all her strength.
“Oh, that door doesn’t open so easily!”
Dije cackled, laughing at her struggle. It seemed the door could only be opened by some special means.
Nancy had an ace up her sleeve. She activated the only skill she had full control over: ‘Piercing Gaze’.
This was the most absurd condition for a prison that Nancy had ever encountered. She glanced at Aaron, then rushed toward him.
“Aaron! Do you think I’m cute?”
As baffling as it was for her, it was equally confusing for him. Aaron looked at her with a face that clearly said, What the hell are you talking about?
Nancy, flustered, tried to gather her thoughts and explain.
“To open this door, you need to…”
Before she could finish, there was a clicking sound as the lock on Nancy’s cage door suddenly released.
She stared in disbelief at the door. Even Dije, who had been watching smugly, looked utterly shocked. The demoness stumbled back from the bars in confusion.
“H-How is this possible? What kind of relationship do you two have?”
Dije shouted, incredulous. Aaron, still not understanding what had just happened, frowned.
“Why is she reacting like that? What did I do?”
Nancy was speechless, her lips moving but no sound coming out. Aaron’s expression, which clearly showed confusion and impatience, didn’t look like someone who found her ‘cute’ at all. Yet, somehow, he must have been thinking it deep down.
Nancy’s face flushed bright red.
“While being comrades, you secretly think she’s cute, don’t you? You’re probably imagining what it’d be like to kiss her, watching her lips when she talks, right?”
Dije shouted accusingly, pointing at Aaron. It was only then that he understood what had happened.
“I don’t just stop at imagining kissing her,” Aaron replied confidently.
Dije screamed, horrified.
“How scandalous! How can you humans be so impure? How could you have such feelings for a comrade?”
Aaron coolly responded to her outburst.
“You’re the last person who should be judging us, considering how you get off on people crying.”
For a moment, Aaron had been unsettled by the seemingly impenetrable cage, but now it seemed like they had a way out.
“Nancy, look at me.”
He was fully expecting the door of his cage to open as well, convinced that Nancy found him just as cute. After all, he believed she liked him—really liked him.
But no matter how intensely they locked eyes, his door didn’t budge.
“Nancy, focus. Think about me the way you usually do,” Aaron urged.
“It’s no use! I’ve never thought you were cute!”
Nancy blurted out the shocking truth.
At first, Aaron thought she was lying out of embarrassment. Sometimes she acted shy and tried to play it off, after all. But seeing her pale, serious expression, it was clear she was telling the truth.
“How could you not find me cute?”
Aaron’s voice quivered with frustration, his hands gripping the bars tightly, trembling with barely contained anger.
No one could look at a man trying to rip apart metal bars with his bare hands and think he was ‘cute’. Nancy was thankful that the bars held firm—if Aaron managed to break through, she had no doubt she’d be in serious trouble.
“This is unbelievable! People like you are a blight on the world!” Dije shrieked, calling her minions to capture the hero.
“Are you really going to make me fight alone? That’s not fair!” Nancy shouted in protest, but the demons didn’t care.
“The day has finally come for us to defeat the hero!”
“I’ve been counting down the days with my hands, feet, and tail! Hehehe!”
The demons were gleeful, thinking they could finally take down the hero.
Fortunately, Nancy had her hero-exclusive skills. She swiftly broke the necks and limbs of the demons that underestimated her.
“Don’t be afraid! She can only fight for 30 seconds before she’s exhausted!”
Dije cheered her minions on, clearly aware of Nancy’s time limit. Nancy silently vowed to find whoever had spread this information and make them pay.
