Can Someone (Anyone!) Please Turn Off the Auto-Skill Setting?! - Chapter 76
“In this state, there’s nothing we can do. My weapon was taken, and Aaron’s stuck in that cage,” Nancy said, her frustration evident.
“If your weapon was taken by the shadows, I know where it might be. They always bring anything shiny to the treasure vault,” Lenny explained.
When Nancy asked if she could guide them, Lenny nodded, though her expression was uncertain.
“First, we need to get out of here, but it looks like they’ve locked the door from the outside…”
Lenny mentioned that the only way out was through the door. She also warned that guards were always watching Dije’s prized dolls.
Nancy pondered for a moment before coming up with an idea. She grabbed a chair from under a doll that remained perfectly still, sitting as if the chair were still there. Holding the chair, Nancy approached the door, took a deep breath, and shouted,
“Fire! The dolls are burning!”
If the guards were keeping watch to protect Dije’s cherished dolls, they wouldn’t ignore such a call. Just as Nancy had predicted, the flustered guard opened the door and rushed in to investigate.
As soon as he stepped in, Nancy slammed the chair down on his head.
“You’re truly the hero!”
Lenny clapped in awe of her bravery.

Aaron was in a terrible mood. Falling into a trap the moment they entered the Demon King’s castle and getting stuck in a cage was bad enough, but there was a bigger issue gnawing at him.
Why doesn’t she think I’m cute?
Aaron had been deeply disappointed in Nancy, who always claimed to ‘really, really like’ him.
Even when she came to rescue him now, his frustration hadn’t subsided.
“Nancy, how do you explain the fact that the door still isn’t opening?”
Aaron asked coldly, his voice filled with annoyance.
Nancy struggled to meet his gaze.
“Maybe… it’s because glaring at me like you want to kill me isn’t exactly… cute?”
She tried defending herself, but every time their eyes met, she faltered, feeling guilty despite her good intentions of returning his sword.
“Fine. I won’t glare. Now hurry up and open the door.”
“Ugh… okay.”
“…I still don’t hear it unlocking.”
“Stop rushing me. I’m trying!”
Trying wasn’t going to change the fact that she didn’t find him cute. Desperate, Nancy hesitantly suggested that he try doing something cute. Aaron seemed to consider it briefly, then reached out to grab her face.
Is he about to kiss me?
Although Lenny was watching quietly, Nancy figured this would be better than him glaring. She closed her eyes, ready to go along with it. But instead of a kiss, Aaron lifted her by the head, her feet dangling in the air.
“Look at me, looking up at you. Isn’t this cute enough?”
“What?! This is not cute—it’s just you pulling my head for revenge!”
“Revenge? I’m helping you!”
When Nancy demanded to be put down, Aaron pouted and let her go. Surprisingly, he hadn’t meant it as revenge. In his mind, he thought she looked cute when she looked up at him, so he’d tried to replicate that. But it seemed Nancy had misunderstood. Aaron let out an annoyed snort.
The two tried several other methods, with Lenny chiming in with suggestions. They attempted winking, speaking in a higher-pitched voice, even shy smiles, but all ended in failure.
Aaron, still sulking, couldn’t manage a convincing shy smile. The high-pitched voice only sounded awkward, and the wink, while handsome, wasn’t exactly ‘cute’.
“Fine. I guess this is all your feelings for me amount to.”
Aaron sighed, turning his back on her in defeat.
Panicking, Nancy broke into a cold sweat, trying to convince him that it wasn’t like that.
But just then, they heard a sharp scream from Dije.
“You let the hero escape?!”
