Can Someone (Anyone!) Please Turn Off the Auto-Skill Setting?! - Chapter 86
“In the end, I didn’t even get to taste the cake,” she muttered.
“Was the chocolate cake really that important to you?”
Aaron asked, sounding almost indifferent, as if unaware that the entire meal had gone awry because of him.
“You really do have a sweet tooth.”
“Desserts are a luxury, you know. I’m not like you, a spoiled noble who can eat them whenever he wants.”
Aaron narrowed his eyes and gave her a look before telling her to head to the bedroom ahead of him.
“Alone?”
This wasn’t some inn on their journey. Surely, he had his own room. After all, this was his house—well, technically, his father David’s house, but still. Surely, he had his own room here. And yet, from the way he spoke, it sounded like they would be sharing a room.
So that guest room was Aaron’s room after all?
Nancy watched Aaron’s back as he headed off somewhere, then shrugged. At this point, there was nothing to be embarrassed about when sharing the same room. Of course, David and Boron would probably make a fuss if they found out, but that was a worry for another time.
She returned to the room and sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for Aaron. He was taking quite a while, and as she grew bored, her feet began to swing playfully. That’s when something suddenly dropped onto her head with a soft thud.
…A bug? A mouse?
Nancy froze for a moment before frantically shaking her head. Whatever had fallen on her quickly slid down her neck.
“AAAHHHH!”
She flailed wildly, trying to shake off whatever was crawling on her, but it clung to her stubbornly, even as it made its way down her forehead to the bridge of her nose.
It was Chuck, the little imp she had completely forgotten about!
Before she could say anything, Chuck stuffed a piece of candy into her open mouth. Startled, Nancy accidentally swallowed it whole.
Chuck, satisfied that she had eaten the candy, jumped off the bed.
“What… what are you doing? What did you feed me?”
Lowering her voice so no one else could hear, Nancy asked him urgently.
“Why are you here? Don’t tell me your whole tribe is here too?”
Nancy glanced around nervously, checking for other imps hiding in the room.
“I’m here alone, and that’s more than enough. I’ve been here before, remember? And don’t tell me you really don’t know why I’m here?”
Chuck’s sharp tone made Nancy flinch. She had a feeling she knew why he had come.
“I’m here to punish you for breaking your promise!”
Chuck shouted, angrily explaining how his tribe had fallen into a dangerous situation with the Ferrons. Nancy, raising her hands in a gesture of surrender, tried to calm him down.
“I became the hero, so I had to take care of the Four Cardinal Guardians first. That’s the duty of a hero! You should understand, since you’re the ones who made me the hero.”
Even as she said it, Nancy realized it was a flimsy excuse. Thankfully, Chuck seemed to begrudgingly accept it. He crossed his arms and glared at her, but his expression softened slightly.
“Tell me where the Ferrons are. Now that I’ve sealed all the Cardinal Guardians, I’ll make sure they’re dealt with.”
She nodded confidently, offering him a smile.
“You should’ve said that before I gave you the candy.”
“Well, at least you understand now! What kind of candy did you feed me, anyway?”
“The kind that shrinks you to our size.”
No sooner had Chuck finished speaking than Nancy’s body began to shrink. Her arms and legs shrank first, then the rest of her body quickly followed. In a matter of seconds, she found herself buried under her own clothes.
Nancy struggled to crawl out of the sleeves of her now oversized clothes. By the time she managed to wriggle free, she was the same height as Chuck—and completely naked. Realizing her state, she screamed and dived back into her clothes, trying to hide.
“I didn’t think you were going to keep your promise, so I gave you the candy. If you were planning to deal with the Ferrons, you should’ve said so sooner.”
Clicking his tongue, Chuck dashed toward the open balcony.
“You can’t just run away after shrinking me like this! Wait!”
