Dear Contract Husband, I Didn't Know You Were Like This? - Chapter 31
“It seems a bit dangerous right now.”
“I’ve already discussed it. Don’t worry, Kendrick.”
“It’s not as simple as you think.”
Kendrick didn’t seem likely to back down easily. He must be worried about her.
‘I can’t reveal that I’m going for my awakening.’
Maya furrowed her brow, recalling Kendrick’s end.
“Monsters of a different dimension than those we’ve encountered so far are lurking around here.”
“Of course. The North is a haven for monsters.”
“Then why do you want to go?”
“Because I can defeat them.”
“Maya, leave this monster to me. You can trust me with it.”
“How do you know about the affairs of the North?”
Kendrick, affiliated with the Mage Tower, always observed from a distance.
This was why the Imperial Knights reached out to Maya in her previous life.
By this time, Kendrick had already entered the Mage Tower and couldn’t help her.
“…I happened to overhear the discussions of the North’s envoy when they went to the Mage Tower.”
Kendrick, having no reason to hide his motives from Maya, openly shared as he did with Tristan, though he softened the story.
“I’ve decided to help.”
Maya’s face hardened.
“That won’t do, Kendrick.”
The reason for Kendrick’s death wasn’t this monster, but that didn’t mean she could be complacent.
“What?”
Kendrick looked puzzled.
“I’ll be the one to take down that monster. My current skills may not be up to par, but I plan to be completely different once I return.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Trust me.”
Kendrick believes in Maya Pendragon.
But regardless of his trust, the Maya he had reunited with sometimes seemed like a different person.
“If you can’t trust me, I’ll bring a witness.”
Determined to prevent Kendrick from following her, Maya decided to bring someone who could vouch for her capabilities.
“…I really don’t know why I’m here.”
It was none other than Alec, the Knight Commander she had previously subdued.
“Because you’re the only person who has seriously dueled with me. Just vouch for my ability to enter the mountain range.”
“Pardon?”
After a severe fight with Maya and further consultations with Tristan, Alec’s tone had become considerably more polite.
Maya stood next to Alex, sword in hand.
“Let’s spar again.”
“I decline.”
“See? Even the Knight Commander refuses to duel with me, so I’m strong enough. Don’t worry. I’ll be back in a week.”
“But the mountain range…”
“You’re really going into the mountain range for a week?”
“Yes, that’s the plan.”
Alec interjected this time. He had returned from a fruitless pursuit, burdened with worries.
‘I had already resolved to go back soon anyway.’
Having fought Maya, he was well aware of her potential.
“May I accompany you?”
“Um, I’m going there for my awakening…”
“Awakening?”
“Yes, as a descendant of the Pendragon family, I need to awaken to truly become stronger.”
And to save Tristan as well.
Convinced by Maya’s confident talk about the legendary ‘awakening’ of the Pendragon family, Alec felt an unprecedented sense of trust.
‘She wouldn’t boast without reason.’
In that case.
“May I accompany you?”
Maya sharply replied,
“I’d rather not.”
Maya herself was uncertain of her own future, and so she didn’t wish to unnecessarily expose anyone else to unknown dangers.
Yet, Alec had no way of knowing this.
Maya’s immediate response left him feeling slighted, drastically reducing his personal fondness for her once again.

Upon venturing out that day, Maya succeeded in purchasing a gift for Tristan.
She also bought something for Kendrick, as she particularly liked the cloak he had given her.
The next day, as she woke up early, the sky softly blanketed the ground with snow.
The butler, Robert, greeted her warmly from dawn,
“It would be best to skip training today.”
“Training?”
“Yes.”
“We are fully prepared!”
The maids who emerged behind Robert smiled warmly at Maya.
Surrounded by five maids, Maya was puzzled. What exactly was this all about?
