Don't Be Obsessed With Your Cat Butler - Chapter 2
I’m the only one without a cat
“Cola, you finished everything again today!”
On her way home from another late shift, Sia arrived at her usual stop and happily muttered to herself as she picked up the empty can left in the corner. It had already been three months since she had discovered the black stray cat on her way to work and named him Cola, diligently bringing him food every day.
“Oooohhh. You’re just toooooooo cute!”
Even after three months of feeding him, Cola still kept his distance, never coming too close. She felt a little sad about it sometimes—but more than that, she was simply grateful that he ate well.
Sia crouched down quietly, sneaking glances at Cola as he circled around her, observing her carefully.
His sleek black fur shimmered under the light, still carrying traces of kittenhood. Watching him closely, Sia reached into her pocket for her secret weapon.
“Cola, do you have any idea how badly I’ve wanted to give you some churu?”
She had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to let him taste it, but he never came close enough. Today felt different. Maybe this time, she’d finally get her chance.
She held her breath and waited.
Slowly, ever so cautiously, Cola approached her leg. Then, in an unexpected move, he rubbed his entire body against her and began circling her affectionately.
Sia silently screamed in joy.
You’re finally opening your heart to me!
She didn’t mind if it wasn’t a person—she just wanted someone who was truly hers.
Her parents had always favored her older brother. She had long given up expecting love from them, but the hollow loneliness inside her still yearned for warmth.
“I’ll keep you warm, so will you warm me too?”
Whispering as if making a wish, she quickly extended the churu to Cola.
The small, pink tongue eagerly lapped at the opening of the churu pouch. Sia couldn’t take her eyes off the peaceful sight.
Sitting behind a parked car in a narrow alley on her way home, she watched Cola contentedly, his tiny tongue still busy licking at the treat, reluctant for it to end.
“…Should I give you more?”
Just as she murmured the words, Cola let out a long meow, almost as if answering her.
Feeling as if their hearts were finally connected, Sia eagerly reached into her pocket for another pouch.
But as she did, the churu had gotten stuck inside her pocket, making her stand up to pull it out—
Blinding headlights suddenly flooded the alley.
“Huh? No, wait—!”
Sensing another presence, Cola instantly darted away.
The moment she had finally felt a connection, she couldn’t let him go like this.
With the churu still clutched in her hand, she chased after Cola.
But then… Cola vanished.
Rushing forward in search of him, Sia didn’t notice what lay ahead.
A manhole cover that had been left open.
Without time to react, she plummeted straight down.
She was so startled that she didn’t even manage to scream—her hands flailed desperately in the air.
In that fleeting moment, her fingers brushed against Cola’s body.
She clung to him like a lifeline, cradling him tightly in her arms.
And then—everything went black.

“Myaaa!”
“Urgh…”
A loud meow echoed right beside her ear.
Groggy, Sia pressed a hand to her chest, trying to calm her churning stomach as she slowly opened her eyes.
“…Cola, is that you?”
“Meoooow.”
Cola, who was sitting at her bedside, let out a cry as if answering her.
The moment she saw him, her memory of what had happened rushed back.
“Oh, right! I—huh?”
She had expected to wake up in a dark, foul-smelling place.
But instead…
She blinked, dumbfounded at the sight before her.
The wind blew gently, rustling vibrant green fields that swayed like waves.
Golden sunlight streamed down over the landscape, reminiscent of a European countryside.
“…What is this…?”
She struggled to process what had just happened to her.
Cola suddenly stood up.
Seeing him move, she instinctively followed suit, standing to her feet.
Cola glanced up at her—as if making sure she was alright—before beginning to walk forward.
“Cola, where are you going?”
In this strange new place, Cola was the only one she could rely on. So, without hesitation, she followed after him.
They walked for quite some time before buildings came into view. The architecture looked old, like something from a bygone European era. Cola casually strode forward, slipping between the ancient buildings.
Sia hurried after him. And the moment she stepped out of the narrow alley, she froze.
Her eyes widened in shock, and she covered her mouth with both hands.
Before her lay an entire plaza that was overflowing with cats. It was just like the pigeon-filled squares of Europe. Except here—it was a cat plaza.
