Don't Pick Up the Male Lead in the Apocalypse - Chapter 9
“What are you… doing now?”
“……”
The man, who was talkative just moments ago, was now silently staring down at me, his mouth shut.
I too found myself at a loss for words.
During those 30 seconds that felt like an hour, he leaned towards me and pulled out a handgun from his pocket.
He pressed the gun’s muzzle against my forehead.
“You should’ve just been grateful and gotten out when I saved you from those three guys. Know when to bow your head and leave.”
“……”
“Don’t want to do that?”
“……”
“Then tell me. Tell me why I should pick up your lowly, useless a*s, because it would be more beneficial for me to waste a bullet here than take you with me.
Sh*t. I have nothing to say.
I’m angry and this situation is f*cked up, but I didn’t have anything to say in response.
This bastard and I are not related by blood or anything, and this is the first we’ve ever met.
I have an inkling of what kind of novel this might be, but since I haven’t read it, I’m clueless. I don’t even know where this is or anything else.
“You’re right. So go ahead and waste a bullet here if you want. But I won’t just step aside. At least, I’d like to see you clean the bloody mess off the seats after blowing my brains out. The thought of giving you a nice ride makes me sick to my stomach.”
This was my last gamble.
If he really intended to kill me, wouldn’t he have done it by now? He wouldn’t have saved me back in the house either.
So, the man pressing the gun to my head must be just trying to scare me into getting out of the car willingly.
Because,
The threat level had already dropped to its lowest when he pointed the gun at my forehead.
“Ha……”
Following his faint sigh, a voice filled with disbelief echoed.
“What the hell…”
“I’m done talking. Shoot me or don’t, that’s up to you.”
He just stared down at me for a while, neither speaking nor moving.
“How long are you going to just sit there? If you’re not going to move and only be a dead weight, then get off.”
“……”
It was too quiet to hear, but I could read his lips and sense the tone.
He was muttering something that sounded like a curse.
Eventually, he returned to the driver’s seat where he originally sat.
Behind his faint sigh, a voice of disbelief followed.
Wow, I thought my heart would burst out of fear.
“Shall we get going?”
I asked him, and he gave me an incredulous sideways look.
Seemingly ready to drive off, he placed one hand on the steering wheel and then abruptly turned to the back seat.
“Ah, this is yours, right?”
What he picked up from the back seat of the car was my red padding.
Shivering in the freezing cold and wearing only a single layer of knitwear, I reached for it in delight.
“Huh? Yes, that’s my padding…”
“Take it.”
“What the hell!”
He threw my precious padding out of the open car door.
That jerk, tossing out my cherished padding.
I rushed out of the car, following my padding as it settled gently on the snow, much like a fairy’s garment.
– Thud.
???
By the time I turned around, he had quickly closed the car door behind him.
Clutching my padding, I stood up and desperately pounded on the car window.
“Hey! You said it’s the f*cking apocalypse, that the world has ended! If you’re going to be so irresponsible, why did you let me live? You should have just let me die, oblivious of this apocalypse! This is even more torturous, you f*cking asshole!”
“……”
As I screamed and banged on the car, he just watched me quietly and then slightly moved his lips.
‘Are you done talking?’
“Fine, I’m done!”
‘Alright, I’m going then.’
Huh?
What?
Is he really leaving?
“Hey, hey, hey…”
-Vroooom.
“Hey, you asshole!!!”
And just like that, the red padding and I were abandoned in a snowy field.
