Edogawa Nishiguchi Ayakashi Clinic - Chapter 34
I was feeling extremely sorry about the Medical Billing report that I was going to hand in the next day.
A luxurious black car was parked in front of the closed clinic.
“Azuki-chan, the car’s already here. Let’s go.”
“Okaay.”
Chairman Takeru knocked on my door to hurry me along. As always, he carries the disheveled suit look so well.
When I went down the stairs, I saw Dr. Tengo standing around while wearing a sullen expression.
“Are you entertaining guests?”
“Yes, I kind of had to come along for some reason.”
“I see.”
“This is my first time, so I’m not used to it.”
“I see, so it’s your first time…”
“…What is it? Did you want to say something, or is this dress weird?”
“Nothing… I think it looks good on you.”
What’s going on? Is he embarrassed, or is he angry?
Or did he want to come along and eat out too?
“Of course not.”
Right.
If Dr. Tengo cooked something, then I guess there’s no need to eat out.
“No, that’s not what I…”
“Hmm? Oh by the way, Doctor, are you headed out today?”
“I’m about to head to Yamanashi.”
“So you’re about to go on a house-call, right?”
“I see, so it’s her first time…”
Dr. Tengo mumbled to himself as he headed back to his room.
Was he frustrated over something? It’s hard to read him as always.
“Hey, Azuki-chan, just let Tengo be.”
“But he…”
“He’s just sulking.”
“No way. He just told me he wasn’t interested in going out to eat.”
“Well, it’s like this. He’s the kind of guy who wants to be a girl’s first.”
“Haaah!? Are you s*xually harassing me first thing in the morning!?”
“I didn’t mean that in an e****c sense. Also, I’m not harassing you, so don’t go to the labor office, okay?”
“I won’t. But are you sure? Dr. Tengo doesn’t seem to be the type.”
“It’s the same for other guys. At some point, we harbor such thoughts at the innermost depths of our hearts.”
“Is that how it is?”
“Anyway, nevermind it. Let’s hurry to the hire since we still have to drop by somewhere else.” [1]
“…faiya?”
The car was waiting by the entrance.
There was no taxi plate mounted on its roof, but a driver who was wearing a white regulation cap was waiting and even opened the door for us.
Ah, I’ve heard of these things before.
It’s one of those expensive taxis that come with butler-like drivers.
Just what are you asking me to do, Chairman Takeru?
“Thank you for waiting, Mr. Yoshiya.”
“What’s up with that greeting, Mr. Hatta? Don’t be so stiff.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Nanakida. Thank you for always watching out for Chairman Yoshiya and Dr. Tengo both publicly and privately. I am looking forward to working with you, my name is Hatta.”
Eh? With me!?
Should I expect to regularly exchange business cards from now on and have some professionally made?
“Don’t worry. Mr. Hatta is a quarter yatagarasu.” [2]
“Yata…? Ah, I see… Haah”
“Please watch your head.”
I wondered if the black seats of the car we were guided into were made of pure leather.
It just feels different, from the level of comfort to the feel of the seat.
Also, there were no advertisements posted on the back of the driver’s seat and the spaciousness and wide leg room was quite different from regular taxis.
“So, Mr. Yoshiya. Shall we head to our first destination in Ginza?”
“Okey-dokey”
“Ginzaa!?”
Wait a minute!
This isn’t a dress you wear when eating out in Ginza!
Translator’s Notes:
[1] Hire
In the original, Takeru used the word ハイヤー (haiya – hire). ハイヤー refers to chauffeur-driven vehicle for hire, but Azuki thought Takeru was saying “fire”, so she sounded out the word, thus ふぁいや (faiya – fire)
[2] Yatagarasu
Is a mythical, three-legged crow. In the Japanese myth of the “Eastern Expedition”, Yatagarasu is said to have served as a guide for Emperor Jimmu as he attempted to advance from the Seto Inland Sea to the Kinki region. Source
