For My Birthday, I Was Gifted Five Husbands - Chapter 64
The wisteria blossoms above them swayed lightly in the breeze, casting a faint shadow over his pale face.
“You’ve only known me for a short time, and yet you’re already thinking that far ahead? Lady.”
“If I hadn’t thought of it, the scholarship would’ve gone to someone else. But, if you won’t answer… then, next question.”
Eugenie took a short breath. She had managed to uncover that each of the five men had something they hoped to gain from this marriage. That alone was a good harvest.
But the next question was the most important one yet.
“Cassius, could it be… my mother was…?”
Was my mother a wizard?
…She wanted to ask that, but for some reason, her lips wouldn’t move.
No matter how few detailed books were left, it wasn’t hard to imagine the status of wizards in the past. The powerful ones twisted nature, recreated logic, and even dabbled in alchemy, making fake gold.
And the current circumstances…
‘It’s just like banging my head against the door and saying Mom is a wizard’
If she could bind five men to a contract, wouldn’t that make her an incredibly remarkable person? However, in Eugenie’s memories, Theodora Norton was always the one heartbroken over her husband’s infidelities.
‘How could someone who couldn’t change even that…?’
If her mother had been such an extraordinary person, she wouldn’t have left a lamenting final wish just before Eugenie’s graduation.
She wished her mother could’ve seen her graduate as the top student at the academy.
‘Now, it’s just a meaningless wish.’
Just then, Cassius spoke, his voice sweet and clear.
“Lady, you’ve already gotten me to reveal something just now. Judging by that, it seems you won’t be far from learning everything about this contract.”
“Do you really think so…?”
“Yes. However, what I can say right now is…”
Cassius gave a crooked smile.
“Your mother seems to have been planning this for much longer than you might think.”
“How long ago?”
“I don’t know. But at least since you were a teenager? As for which of the five men she helped first, I can’t say.”
“Such a long time…”
“And, while I can’t speak for the others, I’ll make one thing clear about my feelings. I don’t expect love from you, Lady.”
Cassius smirked faintly, recalling the other four men. They had all met Eugenie Norton for different reasons, and it was clear that they each had some level of romantic interest.
“I’m only interested in being the most faithful to the contract. So, don’t think too much about our bed.”
“It sounds exactly like a business relationship.”
“That’s the perfect way to put it. Now, let’s end this conversation here!”
As the two of them reached the end of the wisteria path, Cassius gently pushed open a hidden door, camouflaged by the surrounding greenery.
Beyond the door was a spiral staircase leading down. When they reached the final step, a sitting room adorned in various shades of pink greeted them. It was the epitome of a strange space where decadence and charm coexisted.
Moreover, the items displayed on one entire wall were so delicate and elaborate that they could barely be held with one hand…
“Are those all di-dos?”
“Yes, aren’t they adorable?”
“…”
Eugenie stared blankly at the wall.
From abstract designs to chillingly eerie forms, various types of di-dos were proudly displayed, leaving her in shock.
‘What’s that sound coming from deeper inside?’
Through the maze-like hallway of the sitting room, occasional cries like a cat meowing echoed through the space. Amidst them, the seductive voices murmured things like “I’m going to come,” and “I think I’m going to die,” making her wonder if it was just a trick of her ears.
“Cassius. What is this place…?”
“It’s a precious garden where desires mate like butterflies.”
Not the graceful flutter of butterfly wings?
“The true source of income for La Noir is a business that enhances suppressed s****l pleasure. It helps people, even those who think they’re impotent that they can’t get up when they leave for this place.”
“…”
“And now that you’re married, a portion of the profits will come to you too.”
Eugenie turned away with an indifferent expression. The thought of climbing back up the stairs was daunting, but it seemed easier than having s-x with the leader of a dark trade selling s****l pleasure enhancement tools.
“Cassius, suddenly I’m reminded of a paper deadline.”
“Oh, don’t worry, Lady. Your thesis advisor on his walk today will get kidn … will get a letter of arrears, so his head, no, his mind will be all over the place.”
“How many times are you going to change your story?! My thesis advisor can’t die! He’s the one handling my graduation paper!”
“Alright, alright. I can’t even joke with you.”
Cassius sweetly laughed like cotton candy and leaned closer.
“But really, are you not going to do it?”
“Cassius. Even if I’m the most debauched woman in Hermeland with multiple husbands, some things are just too much.”
“Hmph. I thought you were someone who couldn’t resist curiosity. Among the products we’ve developed, there’s a love gel that makes you taste your partner’s g–itals during s-x.”
“Wha…?”
“However, the taste changes depending on the person.”
