For Sale: Male Lead, Obsession Included - Chapter 13
After securing permission for my request, I returned to my room with light steps, only to be met with a shocking scene.
“You’re finally here.”
“What is this…?”
As if my room were her own, Lavelier lay sprawled on the sofa with her legs up on the cushions.
‘What have you done to Declan…?’
Anger welled up from deep within me at the sight of Declan kneeling on the floor with his hands pressed to the ground in front of Lavelier.
“You took so long. I was just playing with him.”
Lavelier glanced at me, flicking her shoe-clad foot.
I bit my lip.
How long had he been kneeling like that? His resentment towards this household must be burning fiercely by now.
Hopefully, that anger wouldn’t extend to me as it did in the original story.
Feeling a sense of despair, I looked at Declan.
He shook his head slightly when our eyes met.
‘Is he telling me not to intervene?’
Sorry, but I can’t. I want to survive too.
“Sister, please take your feet off him.”
Since she had Declan in her grasp, I decided to take a step back for now.
Despite my softened tone, Lavelier’s voice grew even more arrogant as she sat up.
“Hey, I heard Brother Pacion treated you well once, and now you’re acting all high and mighty.”
“….”
“So, you’re standing up to me now? You couldn’t even look me in the eye before.”
Ah, so that’s it.
I wondered why she suddenly stormed into my room, and it turned out it was because of Pacion.
Twisting my lips, I spoke quietly again.
“It was just a minor incident. So please, take your feet off him…”
“Hey, you.”
Lavelier stomped on the sofa with her shoe, and Declan flinched in fear.
I sighed deeply. Whatever she had done to Declan…
‘You’re definitely signing your own death warrant.’
As I sighed in sympathy for either Declan or Lavelier, she spoke up again.
“I’ve changed my mind. You need to give me this slave.”
“Give him back?”
“Are you dumb? Hand him over. That’s an order.”
“…I can’t do that.”
As I stepped forward, biting my lip, Lavelier grabbed Declan’s scarred shoulder hard.
“Are you defying me now? A lowly illegitimate child like you?”
Her blue eyes were full of contempt and scorn as she looked at me.
She believed I would never dare to defy her.
But that was just Lavelier’s delusion.
“I may not be able to defy you, but you can’t defy Father either.”
“What?”
“Father allowed it. No one is to mistreat my slave.”
Lavelier laughed lightly, calling me crazy.
“Where did you get that kind of lie? You?”
She brandished a switch she had somehow brought with her, threatening me. It was her nasty habit to resort to violence when things didn’t go her way.
“This is your last warning.”
Maybe it was because I had the backing of both Father and Pacion.
I felt a newfound confidence that I could face Lavelier’s frightening gaze without trembling.
Her eyes, beautiful yet as cold as a deep, fearful sea, glared at me.
Those ice-cold eyes mocked me.
“Who do you think you are to threaten me?”
Lavelier sprang to her feet, swinging the switch and striking my left forearm. A searing pain shot through my entire body.
“You’ll regret ignoring my warning just now, Sister.”
Unable to stand her arrogance any longer, I watched as she raised her hand again to strike me. I quickly grabbed her wrist, snatching the switch from her grasp.
With all my strength, I swung the switch.
CRACKLE!
The sound was several times louder and sharper than when she had hit me.
“Ahhh! You, you!”
Lavelier clutched her left forearm, her eyes wide with shock.
Her expression clearly said, ‘How dare you hit me?’ So, I swung the switch again.
“Kyaaahh!”
This time, it hit her squarely.
Lavelier, with a look of disbelief, collapsed onto the floor, staring up at me in astonishment.
“You, you, are you really insane? You hit me, just now?”
“Unfortunately, I’m perfectly sane.”
“Mad, mad! Someone, take this lunatic away!”
Lavelier, her face contorted in pain, ordered her guards. They approached hastily.
“Stand back. Father permitted this.”
“That’s a lie! Grab her!”
As the confused guards closed in on me, a soft voice came from the open door.
“It’s true.”
“Brother?”
“My two sisters are both here.”
