For Sale: Male Lead, Obsession Included - Chapter 46
The boy who had received 1 silver from Estira, Truu, was deep in thought.
It was because of Estira’s request to find someone.
The kids living around here weren’t newborns. They knew the faces of the people in the capital well, because that was how the kids from the slums made their living—begging for money.
For someone as sharp as Truu, who knew the appearance of almost everyone in the capital unless they were criminals hiding away, this errand to find a person wasn’t a difficult task.
“Hmmmm.”
The reason Truu was now in such deep thought was because the person Estira was looking for looked exactly like his older brother.
“He’s probably working with a mercenary group by now. He has curly brown hair, brown eyes, and he’s really tall. His eyes are sharp, and he has a really fierce look, just like his personality. And, well, I heard he uses dual swords, though I’m not sure if he’s still using them. Oh, and I don’t know his exact name, but it was something like Fe… Fey? Fe…something?”
“That’s my brother…”
No matter how many times he went over it, the only person in the capital with that personality and appearance was his older brother, Feyden. His hair was as tangled as vines, and his eyes were the same shade of brown, just like chocolate. Plus, his brother was tall and strong, working in a mercenary group.
Truu wasn’t sure about the part where Feyden used dual swords, but since his brother could write with both hands, he figured he could probably fight with both as well.
“And his personality…”
“Hey! Didn’t I tell you to stop running errands and stay home?!”
Eek!
Truu, who had been crouching by the bridge where he was supposed to meet Estira, flinched and dropped the silver coin he was holding when someone suddenly grabbed the back of his neck and yelled.
“Ah! Let go of me, Brother!”
Suspended in the air, Truu flailed his short arms and legs, trying to escape from Feyden’s grip.
But the more Truu struggled, the higher Feyden lifted him, bringing his little brother right up to his face. Narrowing his already sharp eyes, Feyden glared at him.
“Why should I?”
Just as Estira had described, Feyden’s personality was far from pleasant.
Feyden, who still had a youthful face but was just barely starting to look like an adult, smacked his little brother on the head.
Truu knew that no matter how hard he struggled, he couldn’t win against his brother’s strength, so he eventually gave up. After receiving a few flicks to the forehead, Truu pouted.
“Why’d you hit meee?!”
“Why? Because you didn’t listen when I told you to stop running errands and stay home, you brat.”
“What? Brat?!”
“1 silver, huh. Where did you get this? You better tell me the truth. You didn’t earn this by running errands, did you?”
Hoo.
Feyden let out a long sigh and ruffled his messy hair.
“I told you not to steal, didn’t I? I joined the mercenary group so you wouldn’t have to do that, remember?”
“Angel Natasia said not to steal, so I didn’t! It’s not fair!”
“What’s not fair, you little peanut.”
Rubbing his swollen forehead, Truu shouted angrily.
“I didn’t steal it! I really earned this by running an errand!”
“How on earth would you earn that much money from an errand?”
Feyden raised his fist again, intending to finally break Truu’s habit of lying.
But even as his brother’s terrifying fist loomed above him, Truu didn’t close his eyes. Because he knew—he was innocent!
“It’s true! I earned it by guiding someone! Why won’t you ever believe me, Brother?!”
“Because you lie so often, you peanut. How many times have you said you wouldn’t run errands, yet you still went out?”
“Well, that’s because… I hate that you’re working as a mercenary…”
Feyden, seeing the tears welling up in his little brother’s eyes, finally sighed and set the kid down.
Who could he blame?
It was his fault for not earning enough money, forcing this snot-nosed brat to go out and earn some himself.
Feyden cursed under his breath, making sure Truu couldn’t hear, before turning his back.
“Seriously, stop running errands. A kid your age should just be playing at home.”
“You’re still a kid too, Brother.”
“I’m turning into an adult next year, unlike you.”
“Hmph.”
As Feyden turned to head back to the mercenary group to find some work, his eyes narrowed at the sight of a young girl watching them.
“What’s with her?”
She was a girl with bright hair, a color rarely seen in commoners. Her clothes were neat, and there wasn’t any dirt under her fingernails, so she didn’t seem to be of low status.
Feyden immediately became suspicious, one hand hidden and ready to pull out a dagger if necessary.
While he tried to figure out the situation, Estira slowly approached.
At that moment, Truu, who had been sneaking glances from behind, excitedly pointed at her.
“Brother! That’s her! She’s the one who gave me the errand!”
“What? So you really did run an errand?”
“See? I told you!”
At Truu’s words, Feyden’s eyes narrowed even further.
She looked like an ordinary commoner, but she had given his brother 1 silver just for guiding her?
Still wary of the suspicious woman, Feyden grabbed Truu by the scruff of his neck, pulling him back as a warning not to get too close.
Smiling slightly at Truu’s squirming, Estira spoke to him.
“I came to ask if you’d finished the errand I gave you, and it looks like you already found him?”
