For Sale: Male Lead, Obsession Included - Chapter 9
After dodging Gina who tried to grab my hair, I tripped her and then stepped on her back to press down hard.
“Eek! Really!”
As Gina struggled furiously to get up, I kicked the dirt into her eyes.
“Aaack! My eyes! Enne! Help!”
As she flailed about on the ground, it was quite a sight, making me chuckle. Then, I saw Enne picking up a stone.
‘A stone? Seriously?’
As Enne approached quickly with the stone raised high, I kicked her in the stomach first.
With a thud, Enne clutched her stomach and fell over, causing the other maids to finally realize the situation and start backing off hesitantly.
“Running away, are you?”
The maids flinched, frozen in place by my fierce tone.
And then.
“Master!”
I heard Declan’s urgent voice, and at the same time, I swiftly moved to the right.
Gina, who had sprung up behind me, ended up diving past me to the ground.
‘I can see all your moves, Gina.’
With a disdainful look, I grabbed her hair and yanked her up.
“Ah! Ouch! Miss, use words, please use words!”
As Gina slapped at my hand desperately, I responded with a cold sneer.
“You’re the one who should have started with words.”
“I will report this to the Duke!”
“To my father? Do you think he cares about a laundry maid’s word as much as he doesn’t care about a bastard like me?”
“Th, that’s…”
Gina gritted her teeth.
“Instead of tormenting others with that stupid head of yours, why don’t you go and beat the laundry harder?”
As I said the same words Gina once said to me, it was time for Declan and me to head back to the room.
From afar, I saw several servants running towards us.
I clicked my tongue.
Even if I practiced hapkido in my previous life, I’m not up to taking on several adult men. Besides, nine against one is just too much.
The muscular Belvo ran up and cast a shadow over me. His gaze looking down at me was menacing.
“Did the miss do this?”
“As you see?”
His deep voice, after seeing my confident demeanor, turned fiercely hostile. Belvo growled as he reached out with his brawny hand to grab my hair.
“Miss, this is excessive.”
“It’s self-defense, moron.”
Just as I was about to duck his hand, an unfamiliar voice intervened.
“Halt.”
A voice that could bewitch anyone.
“Young Master!”
The maids and servants quickly bent at the waist, sidestepping away, creating a path that revealed a smooth-faced man.
His skin was as fair as porcelain, with soft lemon-colored hair flowing down to his chest. He had a beauty that could make many women scream, but I knew the true nature hidden behind that angelic appearance.
I hid my hand that was about to lash out at Belvo and respectfully bowed my head.
Pacione Glioced. He is the eldest son of the margravate, and I find him scarier than my openly insane older sister Lavelier. His smiling face is completely inscrutable, after all.
“Hello, Brother. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you.”
“What do you mean, ‘It’s been a while’?”
His languid voice matched his steps as he approached slowly and stopped in front of me. It seemed like I could hear the sound of bamboo leaves breaking somewhere around us.
“I came to see what the commotion was about.”
I bowed my head, hiding my sneer.
Nonsense.
The forest around us was his personal space, where he used to nap or spend time on a tree. It was also where I had developed immunity to his good looks.
He probably just watched like a snake from the moment Declan was being harassed until I fought back. And now he shows up.
“I’m really sorry for the disturbance. I was just about to head inside.”
Despite my resentment, I promptly apologized. Arguing with Pacione would gain me nothing.
“Hmm. Is that so?”
“Yes.”
I could hear the maids and servants, including Gina, swallowing nervously. They must have been scared I’d snitch on them about what happened earlier.
Rumor has it that he is even less merciful than the head of our family.
Honestly, part of me wanted to snitch on him in anger. But from experience, I knew it was useless to complain to him, so I just hoped this moment would pass quietly.
But then.
Pacione’s actions contradicted all my past experiences.
“Do you want them punished?”
“…What?”
That’s not like him. Normally, he would have lost interest and walked away by now.
Still bowing to him, I blinked rapidly, but he walked over to Belvo.
What is he trying to do? As I cautiously raised my head, suddenly, Belvo’s large frame crashed to the ground.
