The magical families were thrown into an uproar in just a few days.
It was all because of two pieces of news delivered by the Arsinoe family’s owl, their missing eldest daughter had returned. And, she was getting married.
To make matters even more shocking, the groom was none other than the last surviving heir of the Herodt family, whom everyone believed dead. Since the wedding invitation bore the Arsinoe family head’s official seal, no one dared to call it a hoax.
Had the Herodt family not been wiped out? Was there truly a survivor? How did Arsinoe know? Had Arsinoe been hiding him all along?
More than anything else, the notion of a union between Herodt and Arsinoe was staggering.
The return of a king and the birth of a new ruler were happening simultaneously. It was an event that would be etched into the annals of magical history. Every day, mages from around the world buzzed with excitement over the news of Hansel and Dante’s marriage.
However, Hansel, the protagonist of this monumental scandal, had no mental capacity for such commotion. She was completely preoccupied with another problem.
“The bodice should fit snugly to the waist, and the skirt should flare out broadly from the hips!”
Standing atop a platform in front of the full-length mirror in the fitting room, Hansel frowned fiercely. She was clearly unhappy with the state of the altered dress.
Next to Hansel, a mountain of dresses rejected after fitting sessions had accumulated. The discarded garments were a testament to the tears shed by the dress designers.
Hansel, however, wasn’t solely to blame for the designers’ despair. Margaret sat with a piercing gaze from a chair nearby, scrutinizing Hansel in each dress as if she were a hawk inspecting its prey.
Hansel placed her hands firmly on her hips.
“Not here at the waist, but here. The hips! Instead of a straight triangular drop, it should have a round, bell-shaped fullness. But it mustn’t be clunky and dull like a real bell. As for the neckline, I think it should be a turtleneck. I want the back to plunge down to here. However, if we make it off-shoulder all the way to the arms, the exposed areas feel excessive. Besides, I’m already quite busty, so making the front too low feels overly risqué…”
“Make the front boldly low-cut as well.”
Both Hansel and the dress designer turned to look at Margaret through the mirror. Margaret lightly tapped her own collarbone with her fan.
“If you’re going to make the back revealing, it’s not wise to keep the front suffocatingly covered. A semi-transparent lace design embroidered with silver thread would create a faintly sheer effect. Adding small, finely crafted diamonds to the lace will reflect sunlight beautifully and enhance its elegance.”
Margaret’s icy gaze swept over the dress designer, a sharp light gleaming in her eyes. Folding her fan, she delivered more precise instructions.
“The neckline should be halter-style, tied at the back of the neck. The straps should feature snowflake-like embroidery and extend downward, crossing the back in a straight line before connecting to the dress. This way, even with an exposed back, it won’t feel overly excessive. As for the train, extend it as long as possible. It should flow at least 1.5 meters from the waist. After all, this is the wedding of the Arsinoe family’s eldest daughter—it should be more splendid than a royal affair.”
Without even pausing for air, Margaret continued.
“You’ve inherited your mother’s long, graceful neck, so wear your hair up. For accessories, choose an Arsinoe family tiara that isn’t overly flashy. Since you’ll be entering with a veil over the tiara, it doesn’t need to be too ornate. With a lavish dress like this, keep the earrings simple but intricately designed…”
“Uh, Mother. W-Wait a second!”

At Hansel’s desperate interruption, Margaret fell silent. The designer’s eyes were spinning like swirls behind round spectacles, their cheeks hollowing from a half-day’s stress. Finally, Margaret cast a glance at the designer and sighed softly.
“Take note of these requirements and convey them by this afternoon. You’ve always worked hard, and I appreciate your efforts.”
“Oh, it’s no problem at all! It’s only natural to put extra care into the wedding of the eldest daughter. Your daughter takes after you so beautifully—we can’t wait to see how wonderful the ceremony will be!”
Despite their exhausted complexion, the designer’s words seemed genuine, their eyes gleaming with determination. Even so, Hansel and Margaret spent another couple of hours fiercely debating the dress and accessories.
After the intense fitting session finally ended, Hansel collapsed onto a plush sofa, her body completely drained.
She sprawled out like she used to at Dante’s house but quickly realized her lapse. This was her home.
Hansel was consistently amazed at how, in just six months with Dante, she had grown more accustomed to that life than in twenty years at the Arsinoe estate.
