Holy Night: My Husband is Definitely a Paladin - Chapter 111
Last night, when the distortion dungeon revealed itself and caused an uproar, Wilhelmina seized the opportunity.
She raised her voice so that many could hear her, which was exactly her intention.
“I’ve never seen something so terrifying. Once the Eye of Exploration examines it further, we’ll know more, but I’m sure there are horrible things inside! How can we enter such a place with a bunch of ragtag people?”
Reyna, who had become one of those ragtag people, looked at Wilhelmina with a gaze that seemed to ask, What is this woman talking about?
But Wilhelmina paid no attention and continued—loudly.
“This is a life-or-death situation, so everyone should think clearly. What do you think will happen if you let yourself be swayed by fleeting emotions and jump from place to place?”
Her words had a significant impact on the already anxious purifiers.
“Maybe I should just go back to the princess’s side.”
“But will they even take us back now?”
Wilhelmina quickly jumped into the purifiers’ conversation.
“Do you really think Princess Cecilia is so petty? In fact, she specifically asked for anyone who might be scared by the dungeon’s appearance to come back to her.”
The purifiers’ eyes widened at the mention that the princess would take them back. Soon after, they quietly slipped away, heading to meet the princess.
If only Wilhelmina had stopped there. But she couldn’t help herself and directed her next remark at Reyna, something she should never have said.
“Hey, you’re Reyna, right? I heard you paired up with a knight who’s far below your purification abilities. If you come to the princess’s side, you’ll get a far better… Ow! Hey! Let go of me! Let go!”
Before Wilhelmina could finish her sentence, Reyna had lunged at her, grabbing her by the hair.
Normally, Reyna was cheerful and friendly.
But there was one thing she would never tolerate—any insult to her knight, Felix.
“Reyna! Calm down!”
“Let me go! I’ll rip all this wench’s hair out! Who do you think you are to insult Felix?!”
It took several purifiers and maids to pry the two apart. A handful of Wilhelmina’s brown hair lay scattered on the ground.
When they finally managed to calm her down and return to her room, Reyna’s gaze had completely changed.
“That woman… I won’t leave her alone… And I won’t let the princess off easy either…”
Suddenly, her fighting spirit was ignited, which is why they were now in this situation.
Irene glanced at Wilhelmina, who was glaring at them, and couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Looks like you still have some hair left?”
“You…!”
It was a childish taunt, but it hit a nerve. Clearly still sore from having her hair yanked out, Wilhelmina exploded in anger.
“We’ll see how long you can act so smug! Don’t come crying to me in the dungeon, begging for help!”
Even after leaving, Wilhelmina continued to spew insults, careful to stay just within the legal limits of the fortress. Meanwhile, the central plaza was already bustling with people who had gathered to leave.
‘And they were all so frightened last night.’
Irene glanced down at the document in her hand.
It contained the latest report from the Eye of Exploration, which had returned after surveying the dungeon that morning.
The Eye of Exploration had classified the distortion dungeon’s difficulty as mid-to-high tier.
It was too vast and filled with a variety of beasts to be considered mid-tier, but the monsters weren’t powerful enough to be labeled high-tier.
Of course, that didn’t mean it was safe. Even weak monsters become dangerous when their numbers increase, posing a greater threat than a single strong monster.
Fortunately, the distortion dungeon wasn’t drastically different from what Irene remembered.
However, it wasn’t exactly the same either.
“Certain areas are marked as inaccessible. Extreme caution is advised…”
In simple terms, it meant they should avoid those areas as much as possible.
‘Well, since it’s an unstable dungeon, it’ll disappear even if we don’t kill all the monsters.’
Normally, that would have been a perfect condition for a quick in-and-out exploration. But with the princess involved, a cursory sweep wouldn’t suffice.
“Let us depart!”
With Princess Cecilia’s clear voice, the horses began to gallop across the ground. Her entire group mounted their horses and headed toward the distortion dungeon.
Those who couldn’t ride horses climbed into luxurious carriages, the kind usually reserved for royalty, and left the plaza. It was obvious the princess was doing this deliberately.
‘She never went to such lengths to accommodate people before.’
It seemed the princess would continue these extravagant displays until Irene’s group was completely crushed.
