Holy Night: My Husband is Definitely a Paladin - Chapter 63
Translated by Elphie
“I’m Grade 8?”
Irene asked Variel in disbelief.
“Ha, just one more time.”
“But…”
“I don’t believe it. Can we please check one more time?”
“But we’ve checked over ten times already. Lady Irene, your purification level is Grade 8. I am sure of it.”
Irene let out a short gasp and wiped her face with her hand..
‘My purification level went up?’
Irene had been surprised when she was re-evaluated from Grade 10 to Grade 9. But since the grades were quite similar, she thought it might have been a mistake. But having it happen twice couldn’t have been a coincidence.
“I’m going to report back. I’ve never seen a purifier’s rating change like this before…”
Variel stumbled out of the room, surprised as he was. Left alone, Irene raised her hand to get a closer look at the ring.
If her purification power had changed, there was only one reason to doubt it.
‘They said that absorbing magic would increase my purification power, but they specified it would take an enormous amount.’
Even after purifying several vats of demon blood, her abilities hadn’t changed at all.
‘So, just purifying the magic that Michael had yesterday was enough to immediately raise my rank?’
Certainly, the amount of magic she accepted yesterday was enormous. That’s why she had fainted several times. Each time, Michael had awakened her again to continue purifying. However, she thought it was nothing compared to the magic that Grade 1 purifiers like the princess handled.
That was the only way to think about it. After all…
‘Michael was fine.’
When he’d come to her yesterday, he’d been incredibly calm even though he’d just gone through a high-level dungeon. Other knights, on the other hand, would be agitated after conquering a dungeon and would remain in that state until they were purified. In severe cases of magic overdose, they would even have red eyes and exhibit erratic behavior.
In some cases, they would even attack their purifiers. But Michael was as calm as he usually was. Even Reyna and Cynthia, who were with them at the time, didn’t sense anything amiss and were able to engage in normal conversation with him.
So it was impossible to think that Michael had brought in enough magic to boost her purification power.
If that were the case, there would have been something strange about him for sure.
‘Other than his insistence on purification, there wasn’t anything unusual.’
Irene let out a sigh, her fingers playing with the ring. It glinted in the sunlight, still not slipping off her finger.

“Irene! We heard you’re now Grade 8!”
No longer calling her Miss Irene, Reyna and Cynthia called her by her first name when they entered the room. They held a huge bouquet of flowers in their hands as well as a big basket of fruit.
It had been three days since Irene’s reevaluation of her grade, and although Irene was now able to move normally again, she hadn’t taken a step outside her room.
“Hey, how’s it going outside? I heard there’s been a big fuss.”
Reyna widened her eyes as if it was the most obvious thing.
“A big fuss? Considering the uproar caused by Infinite Healing, scholars are on the verge of going crazy. I heard that they’ve been begging the fortress a dozen times a day to see you.”
“Sigh…”
Cynthia, placing the flowers she bought in a vase on the table said, “I heard from the maids that Princess Cecilia’s circle is the most agitated. They’ve been talking all day about Irene’s rank possibly rising to Grade 1.”
“That’s a ridiculous thing to worry about.”
Irene couldn’t help but let out a muffled laugh. In reality, the difference between 10th and 9th grade was insignificant—and it was pretty much the same for the 8th grade.
But the power of a Grade 1 or Grade 2 purifier was different. Even thousands of Grade 10 purifiers couldn’t compare to the power of a single Grade 1 purifier.
Irene fiddled with her ring and said, “I guess I got lucky and the artifact has evolved, but perhaps this is its limit.”
“But who knows? Maybe you’ll raise your rank again? Anyway, since the talk of circles came up, maybe we should talk about it now?”
Cynthia gestured towards Reyna. In response, Reyna cleared her throat and cautiously began to speak, “We’ve decided to create our own circle. We’ve already gathered a fair number of people willing to join. So, the thing is…”
What was she trying to say? Reyna hesitated, then clenched her fists like she was mustering her courage.
“I want you to be the head of the circle, Irene!”
“What? Me?”
Irene knew that they were including her in their new circle. Since Michael also approved, it would be strange not to have her as well.
But to be the head?
