Holy Night: My Husband is Definitely a Paladin - Chapter 70
Translated by Elphie
Everyone was so confident and energized that it was hard to believe this was an advanced dungeon.
“I wish dungeon conquests were always like this,” one of the knights remarked.
It prompted his purifier to reply, “It can be if we stick with the members of this circle.”
Upon hearing this, everyone silently looked at their respective pairs. They all felt it—the potential to rapidly improve their skills and earn substantial rewards as long as they could always move with these people.
* * *
After hours of defeating one monster after another, they finally reached the end of the dungeon.
“The reward room!”
Everyone cheered as they spotted the distinctive archway. No one was injured, no one was cursed, and everyone had reached the end safely.
It was a completely different atmosphere compared to the last advanced dungeon when several people were injured or died.
As the knights rushed excitedly to the reward chamber, they stopped, as if realizing something. Then, one of them turned around and addressed Michael.
“It might be better if you open the chests, sir.”
It was all thanks to Michael that they made it through unscathed. Moreover, he’d done something he didn’t need to do: train the knights.
“Alright.”
Michael didn’t refuse and ushered everyone into the reward room, gathering the treasure chests in the center.
Typically, lower-level dungeons yielded only a small wooden box as a reward. Intermediate dungeons are more luxurious, with more than one chest. Sometimes there were as many as five. Advanced dungeons had a variety of larger and more sophisticated chests.
“There are five chests, all different sizes.”
Two large chests, two small chests, and one very small chest.
Everyone eagerly watched as Michael prepared to open the boxes, their eyes filled with anticipation. Irene shared the same sentiment.
‘The average reward for an advanced dungeon was around 100,000 gold, right?’
Irene pondered, thinking that was enough to pay off her debt in one go. But when divided among the roughly 50 pairs undertaking the expedition, the individual share might not be exceptionally high.
‘So everyone is hoping for artifacts.’
Irene thought back to the advanced dungeon numbered ’02’. She didn’t remember much about it, so she assumed its rewards must not have been anything out of the ordinary. Still, it would be a generous reward for those who came here today.
Michael opened the first chest, the largest one.
“Wow!”
Exclamations of awe erupted from the crowd. As expected, it was filled with gold coins from an unknown era or country. Even this alone seemed to satisfy everyone.
The next box was no different—gold, gemstones, and the occasional mysterious trinket.
All that was left was a small chest. It was a plain wooden chest that resembled the reward boxes commonly found in lower-level dungeons. So everyone looked at the chests that had been opened so far, not paying much attention to the last one.
While slightly below the average, the reward still promised a much larger sum than what dozens of members of the Princess’s circle would receive after conquering and dividing the spoils of a dungeon.
‘Perhaps everyone could get around 10,000 gold each.’
Just as Irene wondered if she had given up her share for nothing, Michael spoke up.
“Then let’s open this last chest.”
As everyone expected mediocre contents, they gazed at the final box with a sense of ease.
“Huh?”
Everyone’s eyes widened. Michael opened the box, and inside was a ring. Irene found herself unconsciously taking a step forward, staring blankly at it.
‘It can’t be.’
How did this happen?
Why?
‘Why was the Invisibility Ring here?!’
Inside the box was without a doubt the Invisibility Ring she’d been aiming for.
