How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 101
“Now, everyone’s here.”
“Urrgh… buh… buh…”
The Duke of Kattravan made strange sounds as if he wanted to say something. But it wasn’t the voice of a man—it was more like the groaning of a beast. He couldn’t even speak properly, and his frail, emaciated appearance was so pathetic that it was hard to believe this was Duke Kattravan .
Seeing the Duke like a helpless three-year-old child, Leticia was struck with shock.
Perhaps no one here would be able to help her after all.
The uneasiness she had been feeling gradually solidified into a terrifying reality.
She lost what little appetite she had left.
“Don’t be alarmed. Ever since the accident, he has these fits occasionally. He’ll calm down soon, so let’s keep eating.”
The only person who seemed unfazed was Vallon. He had seated the Duke and Duchess as if they were mere decorations, treating them like background props. Though he referred to them as “mother” and “father,” his behavior toward them was far from filial.
How did things end up this way? It now seemed clear why the Duke hadn’t been seen in public. How long had it been like this?
“Leticia, as you can see, my father is no longer capable of handling official duties, so I’ve taken over everything in his place. And I expect that I’ll continue to do so.”
In other words, Vallon had complete control over all the power of the Kattravan family.
Leticia’s gaze shifted to the Duke and Duchess. The Duchess, whose expression she had mistaken for anger earlier, now looked pale with fear.
Ever since the Duke appeared, her behavior had noticeably changed. Her hand trembled so much that her fork clattered against the plate.
They must be hiding something, right? That’s why they’re so terrified.
The feeling of unease Leticia had felt ever since entering the estate was now turning into certainty.
There was no one here who could stop Vallon.
“That’s impossible…”
Leticia’s voice was barely a whisper, filled with disbelief and exhaustion.
She wanted to deny everything that was happening.
“This… this can’t be… ha ha…”
Beside her, Vallon wiped his mouth with the elegance of a noble. His posture was upright, his chin lifted with grace—it was almost regal.
“Leticia, let’s get married once we graduate from the academy.”
What?
Us? Married?
Was she really going to marry Vallon? Leticia had come here in hopes of escaping him, yet the situation was spiraling in the opposite direction.
Even though the marriage of the heir to the Kattravan family was a serious matter, the Duchess still remained silent.
“V-Vallon… You’re set to become Duke Kattravan , and I’m just a commoner. Do you really think that makes sense? Right, Duchess?”
Say something. This makes no sense. You should at least throw your drink in my face or something.
“Oh, are you worried about that again? Mother, what do you think? You approve of this marriage, don’t you?”
Vallon asked while casually swirling his wine glass, addressing Leta.
The Duchess merely nodded. She knew that if she dared to oppose the idea, she might end up like her husband—helpless and broken.
Leta glanced over at her husband, Bertó, the once-proud Duke of Kattravan. There was no trace left of his former dignified self. Ever since the accident, his inability to eat properly had caused him to waste away, and each time she saw him drooling, unable to hold his head up, she couldn’t help but feel relieved that it wasn’t her.
‘I warned you, didn’t I? It’s your fault for not listening.’
In a way, Leta found herself feeling a strange mix of fear and satisfaction at her husband’s state. How could she describe this combination of emotions? Seeing Vallon unsettled her deeply, but at the same time, watching her husband, who had once oppressed her, now completely ruined, gave her a sense of perverse fulfillment.
No one had managed to cast her out of the Kattravan estate—not her in-laws, who tormented her until their deaths, nor her husband, who had been reduced to a mere shell of his former self.
If only they had rooted out the true source of evil, that demon child.
‘You thought you were so clever, but look at what a pathetic lot you’ve turned out to be.’
No matter what, she was determined to survive. With that in mind, Leta nodded once more.
“Leticia, even my mother agrees.”
“Ah…”
Leticia’s mind went blank. She couldn’t even form words. All she wanted now was to escape. She wished she could shut Vallon’s mouth to stop him from spewing these absurdities.
“What’s wrong? Were you planning to sleep with me and then marry someone else?”
“No…”
“Don’t worry, Leticia. Soon, you’ll accept me completely without any hesitation.”
Vallon’s voice was filled with absolute certainty, as if it were inevitable.
