How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 119
Clatter, clatter.
The same bland food and watery soup, devoid of any real substance, appeared on the table every day. Leticia couldn’t even remember the last time she had tasted the soft texture of real meat in her mouth. She knew she was too old to be picky about food, but the meal simply wouldn’t go down.
When Leticia placed her spoon down with a firm clink, her parents exchanged nervous glances. One by one, they followed suit and put their spoons down as well. In truth, her parents were just as fed up with their current life. They missed the busy days of running their trading company, traveling from one country to another.
Working the land that didn’t even belong to them, eating humble meals, they felt uneasy. Being stuck in this rural backwater made them restless. Clearing his throat, Sharon and Tez hesitated before Sharon finally spoke up first.
“Ahem, Leticia? You haven’t met with Young Duke Kattravan recently, have you?”
“……”
“Remember how he helped us last time? Maybe you could ask him again?”
It was an audacious request, to say the least. Did her parents really have the nerve to ask her this?
“Didn’t you warn me to be careful of him before, saying he gave off a dangerous atmosphere?”
“Well, yes, back then we did. But that was a long time ago. Things were different then, and now… our situation is a bit… difficult, don’t you think?”
Yes, things were different back then.
But if they could set aside their pride and accept some help, why wouldn’t they? Sharon missed their former lifestyle more than anyone. Once your standard of living rises, it’s hard to bring it back down again.
Anyone could see that the Young Duke Kattravan was infatuated with their daughter Leticia. Otherwise, why would he have paid off their massive debt when they barely had any connection to his family?
They should’ve sealed the engagement back then. Sharon regretted not doing so every single day. If only they had, the family wouldn’t have fallen into ruin like this.
With winter fast approaching, things would only get harder. Sharon knew all too well how harsh winter could be for the poor. She still shivered at the memory of nearly freezing to death in a rundown cabin, her fingers and toes turning blue from the cold. The thought made her teeth chatter with dread.
They had to escape this life by any means necessary, even if that meant selling off their daughter. Leticia was still young and beautiful—surely someone would be willing to pay a good price for her.
Selling their daughter once was hard enough, but a second time would be much easier.
“Why don’t you try reaching out to him again?”
“Yes, Leticia. Or maybe you could visit the Young Duke directly?”
Tez, who had been quietly listening, chimed in to support Sharon’s suggestion. The desperate look in his eyes made it clear that he saw Vallon as their last hope.
“If not him, how about Marquis Stern from the neighboring village? You know who I mean, right? The one who made a fortune with his vineyard business?” Sharon asked casually.
She wondered if Leticia, too, was sick of their current lifestyle. Perhaps, if she could wear beautiful clothes and live in a luxurious house again, it wouldn’t matter who she ended up with. After all, it was better than selling her body in the red-light district, wasn’t it?
Even if the man was old, at least she wouldn’t starve.
“What, are you going to sell me off to that rich old man now? If he’s so great, why don’t you go instead, Mother? I’m sure he’d be thrilled to have you.”
Leticia finally spat out the words she had been holding back. She couldn’t stand the look in her parents’ eyes anymore. She knew exactly what their true intentions were. Strangely, whenever she looked at them, she no longer felt the same affection she once did.
It felt as if maggots were crawling all over her body under the gaze of her parents. Even though they lived together, it felt like they were strangers. No, worse than strangers. With no way to make money and growing weary of this life, Leticia could clearly see what they were thinking.

Later that night—
“Honey, the only way for us to survive is to marry Leticia off to Stern. I heard the Marquis offers a higher price for younger women.”
“Leticia would prefer warm meals and a comfortable bed there, don’t you think?”
“Of course. It’s certainly better than this place where she doesn’t even have dresses.”
Leticia’s eyelids, which had been pretending to sleep, trembled uncontrollably. Nonsense. As if she could stomach meals sitting next to an old man on the brink of death. Wasn’t it said that he already had five wives? Just imagining the wrinkled face of that marquis made her feel nauseous.
Her parents, with their deep-seated merchant instincts, were once again planning to sell her off. She now understood why she had been unable to sleep. She was afraid that she would wake up one day, sold off without her consent.
Distrust toward her parents had taken root deeply within her. She might have acted like everything was fine, but in reality, nothing was fine.
There was nothing left in this house for her. No more luxurious dresses, delicious food, a comfortable home, or a loving family. Nothing.
No one was left to help restart the business. And now, they were planning to sell her off as a concubine to a dying old man.
If that was the case, there was no reason for her to stay in this house anymore.
Before she was sold for a few coins to an elderly man, Leticia needed to escape.
